I keep hearing this as a reason why we wont be able to run. We faced the same looks last season with Darren McFadden running on a loaded box and he fair well.

I think people are making way too much about how defenses will be able to to dictate how effectively we run the ball. I think our struggles last week had more to do with the fact the Giants defensive lines looks built to stuff the run with two nimble 340 lbs+ DT's that need to be doubled then them bringing an 8th man in the box

I just think that if NFL teams have a good idea you're running it then they will most likely be able to stop it by making it a numbers game.

8 or 9 defenders on 5 or 6 blockers is just never going to favor the offense consisntely.

You may pop one here and there but don't look for 4 and 5 yards a carry unless you break one and inflate the state.

I think it has more to do with your line winning its assignment and the back being able to exploit a hole then it is a numbers game. Thats what we saw last year with McFadden and what we (outside of a run he was hit in the backfield) with Morris Sunday. Down in down out no OL is likely going to get a major push against the Giants defensive line. Elliott needs to show more patience

People keep say you cant run with a stacked sure. Sure we can, we did most of last season

Exactly. Harrison + Hankins = problems running the ball.

Somebody should chart how many times the Giants actually put 8 in the box

Here is Elliots runs.

If you look.. We got 8 guys out of the box whenever we brought 3 WR's on... This was my reason behind wanting to sign a guy like Anquan Boldin who can block like a TE but still give you the WR production from the slot. Gives a great run / pass option.

Anyways...

Give the Giants credit.. They clogged up those lanes.

Weak justification for Zeke's awful debut. Simple as that.
Did people predict that awful debut the whole week leading up to the game. Everyone knew the stacked box was going to happen and it did.

@Kaiser went and watched the film and 18 out of 20 runs Elliott had no chance...so they either stacked the box or jumped the gaps but one way or another they completely neutralized our running game

Exactly. Zeke ran head long in almost 700 pounds of beef. He needs to run with more patience like Morris. Its known to be one of his traits, maybe he was just amped up

Giants definitely get a lot of credit. But you dont have to pound it inside. Outside runs are effective as well. When they stack the box hit the outside. Misdirection plays, more sweeps, pitch outs. You can also throw the ball to the back out in the flat.

It was always 7on6 or 6on5.........they were always in the backfield....it is clear Witten is a liability blocking

your video no longer available.

i am not sure we give giants credit.
more like why the coaches did not adjust to the obvious.

in the plays i saw with 3wr, elliott got better results.
why stay with the 12 personnel?

Or even a couple designed QB runs to the outside.
