It's not just stack in the Box I swear people recognize our formations and know exactly where we're going to run the minute the ball is snapped there's no read it's just run to the spot

if they're not guessing they're winning

They did in 2014 as well. Our running has never been unpredictable. It has always been line against line, dare to beat our run game. We lost the other day against a dang good defensive front. Simple as that.

Here's an idea, don't put the TE's tight on the line when you plan on running the ball.... run the ball from 3 WRs set, from the shot gun. Run draws, delays, counters, screens, but by God, quit running straight into the middle of the line from the two TEs tight set.

Stacking the box is an excuse you'll hear thrown around here all day. It's a bunch of crap.

If we stack the box we'll have to have the 3 lbs committed to the run and then you either bring a safety down or you disguise it with an extra corner. Fans just throw that crap around.

In reality the Giants stopped us and it wasn't always stacking the box. In fact does someone have the #s infront of them? I doubt it was even 15% of their defensive formations.

Zeke didn't look particularly great and handing him the ball on 1st down pretty much just wasted a down, but I have a feeling he'll improve significantly as the year goes on. Gurley got shut down last night as well.

@Kaiser went and watched the film and 18 out of 20 runs Elliott had no chance...so they either stacked the box or jumped the gaps but one way or another they completely neutralized our running game

You are absolutely right. He had no chance on most runs.
People say he wasn't patient and this makes them feel comfortable jusifying their blame towards him.
He picked up a few first downs that being patient would have meant he didn't get the 1st.

Once everyone's man crush Todd Gurley got shutdown just like Zeke people seem to have slowed down on the blame. I think some people needed to see it happen to a guy not wearing the star. Some people still carrying their anger over RB at #4.

Close to 700 pounds of defensive tackle. And good ones

Cant be understated

i don't know how kaiser says they stacked the box.

they didn't really bring down an extra man. now the linebackers were run blitzing, they weren't waiting at all, they were playing run all day. and the big difference was their two big DTs were manhandling the cowboys oline, allowing them to flow to the ball. their linebackers met in the hole. big difference compared to the cowboys defense.

more specifically, the failure was collins against harrison/hankins or the TEs against vernon. vernon and jpp were why they couldn't do outside runs. and the DTs were why they didn't have the inside runs.

on the big runs for morris and ezekiel, most likely you'll see it's one of the backup DTs in the game. i would say morris got lucky or most likely the giants gameplanned this. there was one play, where collins inadvertently fell and cut harrison, and that allowed a big play. but that's the only one i saw that had success against the two big DTs.

overall though, not impressed by ezekiel, sometimes gotta make a guy miss or make something out of nothing to be considered special. i think if 2014 murray was there, he would've cutback changed direction on some of those plays and got yardage.

I quoted the wrong guy, it wasn't Kaiser but he didn't say they stacked the box......he said EE had no chance and was met in the backfield on most of the runs...the DTs dominated and Witten was bad at setting the edge

Sort of like Todd Gurley, Adrian Peterson, McCoy, Demarco Murray ect did on Sunday?

No such thing as a human that can run through what Zeke was facing Sunday. Watch the carries again. Then tell me which carries Zeke failed on and which way he should have went instead. It's just not there.

So according to your definition of special Gurley and Peterson are not special either. They got rolled up pretty bad in their games also. At least Zeke found the end zone.

I keep hearing this as a reason why we wont be able to run. We faced the same looks last season with Darren McFadden running on a loaded box and he fair well.

I think people are making way too much about how defenses will be able to to dictate how effectively we run the ball. I think our struggles last week had more to do with the fact the Giants defensive lines looks built to stuff the run with two nimble 340 lbs+ DT's that need to be doubled then them bringing an 8th man in the box

Nice post! We should've ran tosses and sweeps and force those big DTs to run sideline to sideline.

The offensive system in place is too easy to be bullied. The studs are in place but the play callers seem to want to outsmart the opposition. The line is in place to be physical but somehow get bullied into well that didn't work so lets conform and do something different. The most talented Oline in the NFL is soft

You might have quoted the wrong guy, but the data is correct. And whoever says they weren't stacking the box is confused.

Exactly. Harrison + Hankins = problems running the ball.
I agree you are not running on Hankins, JPP, Harrison, and Vernon and four others vs our line. This was a very good Dline we played against and we were one play away from winning the game.
