This year we should be prepared for the hardest sales pitch we've ever seen

I was face painted with two of my daughters at our last SB win. I was well aware this could be it for a while, so we went all out. I am well aware of the drought. BUT, even if we had won the SB last year, I would be no more excited for the start of this season than I am right now. I have been a lifelong Sixers fan(Dr J, what can OI say) and guess how long it has been since they have won a title? Since 1983, now I am not good with mat, but I think that is 41 years. And guess what??? They have had real people running that team.

I have been a lifelong Cincinnati Reds fan, and they havent won a title since 1990 (Chriso Sabo, We kicked their ***!!!) that is 34 years, and yes, they too have real people running the team.

For me, each season starts new. Last year doesnt matter. Its the ups and downs, the last second wins and losses that get the blood pumping. You dont get to be pessimistic all season, then they put a run on and win it and then get to go back and enjoy it.

You all make it like Jerry does a con job on us each season. Well guess what, when Jerry dies, you will still approach each season the exact same.
You and I must be the same age or very close to it. All my teams are from the early 70's. So, it's a Cowboys, Reds, and Sixers trio for me as well. Have stayed faithful to all but still get called a bandwagon fan LOL.

We all know Jerry Jones could sell sand in the desert. There is no doubt he is as gifted a businessman and salesman there is. But his playoff record also shows he is not a GM who understands how to put a championship roster together in the salary cap era. We have receipts.

The 28 straight seasons with not even a divisional playoff win and somehow JJ is still running this team with a tight grip has decreased fan base optimism like never before.

Don’t take my word for, there is a recent fan base survey that shows exactly that. A survey conducted this summer by the pay site The Athletic (why I can’t link it) shows that only 19.9% of Cowboys fans are optimistic about the 2024 season. That’s 31st in the league, only behind giants fans. Wow! So JJ and SJ clearly know after the most embarrassing playoff loss in team history last January, and the evidence in this survey that this Cowboys fan base is as angry and frustrated as I have ever seen it.

Here is a link to a Sports Illustrated article that is free on this topic:

As a result, we have seen and will continue to see a full court sales press by Jerry and Stephen. It’s one reason why JJ sat down for a long interview with Stephen A Smith. It’s why Stephen Jones is already carnival barking on his weekly radio show. He says the same things every year, he’s just using all the sales talking points earlier than usual. Expect the sales pitch to reach fever pitch early this season. I actually think JJ and SJ know the fans are fed up with them and that their credibility is on thinner ice than ever before.

Some will call this “pessimistic” or a downer, or “whining” but it’s just the reality of being a Cowboys fan right now. All this can change very quickly if the Cowboys have great season that includes winning at least a couple of playoff games. As a 60 year Cowboys fan, that’s what I deeply want.

Winning, especially in the playoffs, cures all ills. So advice to JJ and SJ: The only sales pitch that will work now is playoff wins (plural)
What I see so far is a 3-14 season
