This year we should be prepared for the hardest sales pitch we've ever seen

Since 1995, how many NFL teams have had sustained success? Id argue the Pats, The Chiefs, uhm.................................. let me think.... uhm,, maybe the Iggles..... uhm, maybe ................... uhm......................................... the steelers ( who currently suck) .... uhm so what do you think? name me 5 more.
Again you continue looking for excuses defending the Cowboys instead of being more critical of this era .

First of all it would depend on definition of sustained success. The Chiefs haven’t had it up until a few years ago. And the Pats haven’t in last few years.

The bigger measurement is what teams have had more success than the Cowboys this era.

But if you are saying the Chiefs have had continued success in last 25 years then I’d add in no particular order off the top of my head the Steelers, Rams, Seattle , 49ers , Colts , Egirls, Saints , Ravens into that mix of success for multiple years .

No one has forgotten but there’s a reason we did. He stayed out of the way with Jimmy.

Jethro shouldn’t get a pass for life.
Jerry did not stay out of Jimmy's way. Jimmy had to report to Jerry on everything he did.

Since 1995, 27 other franchises have made it to a conference title game. Cowboys are bottom 5 in that same category. We are one of 5 teams that has no success, sustained or otherwise, in the 21st Century.

Nope. Jerry stayed out of the way and just signed checks. Jimmy's contract included specific language that he was GM and would handle all football related duties.

Jerry stuck to that until Jimmy was being credited as the best mind in football at the time. Jerry's ego snapped, and derailed what would have been the greatest dynasty and SB run in the history of the NFL with his big mouth.

Jerry proved it was not Jimmy but himself who was the true mastermind by winning a SB without Jimmy.

What are you gonna say when it doesn't?
He will just keep repeating the same things as if all these years of failure didn't happen. He's in the sunk-cost fallacy territory of being a contrarian for the lols.

Haze I want you to screenshot this that Coog said this, I've said it earlier in the summer we will be BETTER somehow than people think. We will be better with doing LESS than we've done. The football God's will be on our side I just see it for some reason. Record might not be 12 wins, but I think we will get more playoff wins/hell even win the Superbowl (Yes I said it, not being a homer) Yes I say what I say on here, but this is my gut feeling
Got you on the record Coogs. Hope you’re right!

We all know Jerry Jones could sell sand in the desert. There is no doubt he is as gifted a businessman and salesman there is. But his playoff record also shows he is not a GM who understands how to put a championship roster together in the salary cap era. We have receipts.

The 28 straight seasons with not even a divisional playoff win and somehow JJ is still running this team with a tight grip has decreased fan base optimism like never before.

Don’t take my word for, there is a recent fan base survey that shows exactly that. A survey conducted this summer by the pay site The Athletic (why I can’t link it) shows that only 19.9% of Cowboys fans are optimistic about the 2024 season. That’s 31st in the league, only behind giants fans. Wow! So JJ and SJ clearly know after the most embarrassing playoff loss in team history last January, and the evidence in this survey that this Cowboys fan base is as angry and frustrated as I have ever seen it.

Here is a link to a Sports Illustrated article that is free on this topic:
https://www.si.com/nfl/cowboys/news/dallas-cowboys-fans-pessimistic-entering-season-opener

As a result, we have seen and will continue to see a full court sales press by Jerry and Stephen. It’s one reason why JJ sat down for a long interview with Stephen A Smith. It’s why Stephen Jones is already carnival barking on his weekly radio show. He says the same things every year, he’s just using all the sales talking points earlier than usual. Expect the sales pitch to reach fever pitch early this season. I actually think JJ and SJ know the fans are fed up with them and that their credibility is on thinner ice than ever before.

Some will call this “pessimistic” or a downer, or “whining” but it’s just the reality of being a Cowboys fan right now. All this can change very quickly if the Cowboys have great season that includes winning at least a couple of playoff games. As a 60 year Cowboys fan, that’s what I deeply want.

Winning, especially in the playoffs, cures all ills. So advice to JJ and SJ: The only sales pitch that will work now is playoff wins (plural)
No doubt, playoff wins are the cure... Or at least play well and don't get punked. Fans hate rooting for pretender teams that embarrass them and that is exactly what this team has done in recent years. Someone tell Jerry that without a physical OL and a strong defense they will always be pretenders.

BS.... it isnt excuses, it is FACTS! Sustained success to me is a team that has been to multiple titel games or SB with essentially the same team.
You like to always change the scenario to fit YOUR views. I didnt ask who has had more success than Dallas.

You are right, the Pats havent had any success in the past few years..... yep since Brady left.

The Chiefs hadnt done jack for 95 years and Mahomes shows up and 3 SB wins appear out of noweher.

Seattle has NOT had any sustained success. They had a little 4 year run and back to mediocrity, where they lived for 30 years before .
The Colts had a nice run as long as Manning was in Ton, they sucked before manning and they sucked after manning... why? They have real people running the team, no?
Saints? See comments on Colts above
Ravens... Ill give, they always seem to be solid.
49ers? Please... 1994 buddy, NINETEEN STINKING NINETY-FOUR!!!!!!!!! I sont want to hear any of your excuses about why they have had so much great success, because we all know If Jerry had done the same as the Niners since 1994, you be yelling how your "Jethro," stinks because he cant get over the hump/

Which part of SUSTAINED SUCCESS do you miss in my question? The blind squirrel finding a nut every 20 years or so isnt sustained success.

Anybody that follows football seriously knows that the Cowboys are good this season. They have a very good chance of winning the East and advancing in the playoffs.

What are you going to say if that all changes this year? The Cowboys are a contender. I'm really interested in that happening and look forward to what you come up with.

The Chiefs were within an eyelash of not having a championship roster. You might have noticed that they were struggling during parts of the season. It happens, like when they lost to the Bucs when they ran out of offensive tackles.
He addressed that the last 2 paragraphs.

I can only speak for myself. I'm always excited going into a new season. I was excited the year after our 1-15 season. But I really can't compare that level of excitement to the years I think we can contend for a championship. Mid to late 70s, early 80s. Early to mid 90s and 2008. I'm at a level 10 going into those seasons.

The bottomline is the Cowboys havent had as much success as any of those teams this era.

Jethro suks as a GM. You’re on an island of your own as an apologist for him. Good luck with that.

Unfortunately, Cowboys fans are a loyal and delusional bunch and there is no real accountability for on field success. Winning is not measured by what happens on the field, but by the numbers in the financial ledger. People can voice their concerns and displeasure, but their real vote comes from their wallets. This is the most valuable and financially successful team, not just in the league, but the world and that is a vote of confidence for Jerry. The bottom line is that the true measure of accountability is the bottom line because if fans were truly that upset they wouldn't keep watching their games and spending their money.
