Those of you who think Wolf Boy is a decent player

Let me preface this with I am not an LVE fan. I was not in favor of his return this year. Just happened to be scrolling my Instagram feed and noticed on the Cowboys official Instagram page that LVE was named the Pepsi player of the game this past Sunday.

I’m not the biggest LVE fan, but you’re correct if you base the opinion off of this one play. If you look at his work the entire game he was the best he’s been in a long while.

you don’t judge a players game off 1 bad play in a game. I could go find 2 dozen good plays he made in other games.

Agreed with those in saying do not judge a player off one lone play.
It's a game evaluation grade,.. not a single play evaluation.

II admit i'm not a fan of LVE, and will still want an upgrade over him... but for this particular game vs Texans. he balled out. He was very active, he was in pursuit, and guess angles,
and he's always been an OK-decent guy in coverage and space.
It was run defense play, his pursuit, and tackling at the line, that stood out in this specific game.

As far as the season in it's entirety, then we just have to have a bigger impact and better overall player.

Our entire LB core is weak right now. But having said that I was thoroughly impressed with LVE in this game considering he was just coming off the flu. He looked like the only player that was really trying outside of Dlaw

I don't agree with that, because i saw some encouraging signs from rookie Damonte Clark.
Who I see is becoming more adjusted and active with each and every passing game.
I'm liking his ability to quickly diagnose, react and slice thru traffic to make plays.

I agree with that. I have high hopes for him too. I’m hoping he becomes more dynamic as the season progresses

One of the problems on this board is that fans find one or two bad plays by a player and then use that as the basis to tell the rest of us that that player sucks. You're not the only one to do this, but you did provide a perfect example of that mindset. Thanks for that.
I know that I don’t know enough about schemes and assignments to make an accurate judgement, but I have been watching for a while, so Ill comment on what I see from him with the understanding that I could be wrong….

There are times when he looks a bit slow. The lineman are engaged, and it seems like he is there slightly too late for it to not be a four plus yard play.

It also seems like way too many times he is dragged three yards the wrong way from the point of contact.

I don’t think he is terrible but I have a feeling that improved play from that spot would go a long way toward fixing the run defense. I’m not sure if it’s fully on the DTs.

No, it’s not a stretch but I’m laughing because you’re seemingly coming to LVE’s defense, but then effectively damning him with faint praise (“he’s been fairly decent!”)

I think he’s likely gone after the season too. Ironically, I think he had his best game overall last week. I do think he’s a middling NFL linebacker at best. Folks are harping on the OP about “one play,” as if there aren’t other examples of poor play by LVE throughout the season. We need more from the position for sure.

I mean to be fair his thread title is about LVE not even being decent, and his supporting evidence is one play. These are direct responses

need to rewatch the 2nd down pass to Moore from Driskel after Ball’s man forced the INT late in the game. Moore catches it at the 8 and should’ve been dead to rights but Vander Trash overruns it by 2 yards and Moore almost gets in. LVE sucks and needs to go - he could’ve cost us that game. He’s late to diagnose and is late to arrive.

Discuss.
He is terrible. Washed out nearly every run. Can’t shed. Very soft for a big guy. The run defense is bad and he has a big hand in it.

OMG a LB had trouble running down a WR… it’s not like Houston even pays their players!!!! What a silly post lol!

He’s a decent player. That’s why he’s a starter.

I'd throw Micah in the same boat. Sometimes he just stands around on the sidelines. How does he expect to make a play from there! #micahwhereareya

LVE isn't a star, but rather a quality role player for this team. He is making just 3 million this season, he is well worth that cost. I wouldn't be surprised if the team gives me a modest contract extension.

Also look at the third down play that DLaw made immediately after. If DLaw hadn't made the play, LVE basically fell down untouched and the guy would've waltzed in for 6 if DLaw hadn't made a spectacular play. That's two plays in a row at the most important point of the game.
Now we're basing opinions on what we think would have happened ???

LVE has been solid this year. In fact he has been getting better recently. We don't need all pro's at every position. I am comfortable with an average contract for his position.
Gluestick is solid???? Omg…..watch the tape!!!

You are so off base , where do I even start? You can take a play from any game , isolate it, and use it to prove any player in the NFL sucks.
Gluestick got his name deservedly because he cannot get off blocks, and i wont even mention wrong gap every time…..watch the tape
