Numbers game or not, it's concerning he's been inactive more times than not. I know we need guys for special teams, but that's another concern that he can't even crack that lineup as a backup LB over Luke Gifford.

I agree Clark should be fine taking over as one LB, but think they need to dip again into the draft for more competition for the #2 LB spot.
Get rid of Gluestick and replace him with Milano type LBER with Clark and we are good to go.

Let me preface this with I am not an LVE fan. I was not in favor of his return this year. Just happened to be scrolling my Instagram feed and noticed on the Cowboys official Instagram page that LVE was named the Pepsi player of the game this past Sunday.
Gluestick showed up one game? Wow, sign him to a $50 million 5 year contract.

need to rewatch the 2nd down pass to Moore from Driskel after Ball’s man forced the INT late in the game. Moore catches it at the 8 and should’ve been dead to rights but Vander Trash overruns it by 2 yards and Moore almost gets in. LVE sucks and needs to go - he could’ve cost us that game. He’s late to diagnose and is late to arrive.

Discuss.
so, no players make mistakes?? huh one play that your defining moment.,. wonder what real DC and coaching staff think, gm, coaches etc etc bet they think different of he wouldn't be starting. why isn't cox starting?

so Tyron smith never had bad plays, Martin, big time payers dont have plays we can break down like this? MI88 never had bad pay remember when that team in 95 got down 21-0 in an NFCCG? right all the stars that day made mistakes to get them down 21-0.. crazy huh expect perfection form 53 players yet reality says different. so, Roger never through an INT ???>?>?>

you don’t judge a players game off 1 bad play in a game. I could go find 2 dozen good plays he made in other games.
could find a dozen poor pays by all our stars and team just last game, dropped passes, INT, bad routes, poor blocking. Wilsons missed jump on TD in coverage. seems some fans isolate few plays to prove a false narrative.. as if we should have perfect roster of 53 Pro Bowlers who never miss a play.

One play doesn’t really tell the whole story
14 tackles and most were solo tackles

Look up the definition of "Confirmation Bias".

LVE overran that by 6 inches. Hooker overran it by 6 feet...

Diggs also failed to react and took a bad angle.

It seemed that Kearse should have been there also but must have been blocked out by a WR.

If Hooker had just gotten a hand on Moore, LVE would have been able to get back to stop him.

Summary: Multiple players failed but your agenda was to highlight a bad play by LVE. Watkins saved the day.

I was very impressed with LVE’s play in his rookie year. I think most people were.

At some point, along the way, his play looked very suspect to most fans, including me. He still has the ability to be a “thumper” if he is able to square up on a player and make contact.

What I think most of his detractors would point out is that:

1. He often is out of position to make a play on both running plays and passing plays.

2. His change of direction seems to be “off”. Whether that is physical or mental, or by assignment the performance is the same. The cause might be different and what is causing it might be fixable or not fixable depending on what the underlying cause is.

I think LVE has played better this year than last, and he is not complete trash. There has been a time or two this year where he has made some difference making positive plays.

If you want to focus on the positives, you can make the case that he is a pretty solid player. Or you can focus on the negatives, and there are still more negative plays than I would like to see.

My analysis is that if LVE is the worst player on your team, that’s probably OK. But he is not a difference maker on the defense currently.

If he sticks around it should be on a near veteran minimum deal and we should be looking to upgrade the position. He should be a quality spot player or backup and not a startinglevel linebacker on a team that wants to win a SB.

I think LVE's injury coupled with playing next to Jaylon really set him back. I think both of those things got in his head. He started coming back around when Jaylon left. The further he is removed from the injury seems to be making a big difference, too.

He's a decent linebacker who has been playing better and better as the year has worn on. I wouldn't mind seeing him come back on a very team-friendly contract.

I can't extrapolate well enough to make a decision about a guy based on one play. I'm also not so dead set against any of our players being successful that I refuse to admit when they are doing just that. I think a few of the posters around here would bleed Philly green if cut.

The best players in the league make mistakes, doesn't mean they are trash. LVE isn't the best LB, but he's also not trash either. He's at or above average, good but not great. Probably gone after the year unless he's really cheap.

I’m not the biggest LVE fan, but you’re correct if you base the opinion off of this one play. If you look at his work the entire game he was the best he’s been in a long while.
Not good enough and not worthy of a 2nd contract. We could draft a corpse from the DFW morgue that would give us what he is. We need to upgrade at both LB spots until we know what we have with Clark and Cox.

Also look at the third down play that DLaw made immediately after. If DLaw hadn't made the play, LVE basically fell down untouched and the guy would've waltzed in for 6 if DLaw hadn't made a spectacular play. That's two plays in a row at the most important point of the game.
Not only that but Vander Trash read it wrong and crashed down inside while the guy went off tackle where he should've been. On the play I referenced in my OP, he had containment help outside on Moore and still allowed himself to move too far to the sideline. He's just BAD.
