Thought on Robert Blanton signing

You don't skip drafting a Safety because of Blanton, the point is you don't have to reach for a player because Blanton is there as insurance. If you have a guy like Peppers rated as mid 2nd round pick you don't feel the need to draft him at 28 because the worst case scenario isn't forcing a guy like Kavon Frazier into the starting lineup.

Darren McFadden was the same type of signing in 2015, they wanted to draft a RB but the board didn't fall that way. They were right not to reach for a RB in that draft and DMC did just fine as the veteran fall back.

I don't know, "reaching" for David Johnson at 60 would have been nice

I am inviting a beat down from the faithful, but I don't care.

I will be surprised if Bryant is able to produce to justify his compensation three years from now and I have little doubt we will start getting more serious about life after Dez after this season.
I agree with you completely.

With the timing of the signing, I kinda wonder if they have zeroed in on a day 2 offensive prospect. Making that selection, you are possibly missing out on a contributor at a defensive position.

Its a reach, as Robert Blanton is very minor transaction. But if they are looking at taking say a JuJu Smith-Schuster or a Julie'n Davenport in the third round, you may sign a Robert Blanton thinking you aren't sure you can get your contributing safety in the 4th and beyond.

Timing of the addition is interresting to me, even for a minor signing

Blanton's affect on the draft: Zero, zip, nada...

He will be what, 32 or 33 at the begining of his 3rd contract. I really dont see him here on a 3rd contract

What's it going to be then, eh?

No question. Despite what people think, he is not good enough at his craft to earn a lucrative third contract elsewhere.

He is good ST player and provides depth
Shouldn't have any bearing on draft. If a safety you like comes up, take him
We lost 2 so we need 2
And if the previous post about him telling poor angles is correct, he's our Wilcox replacement.

That may be the case but this is a deep DL and secondary draft Which lines up perfectly with our needs
It would be a shame to not come out with 3-4 very significant contributors in year 1 and future starters on defense from this draft
We can easily pick defense through RDs 1-4 without having to reach and fill real needs

Oh come on; there are enough incompetent GMs in the league where someone will throw significant money at him.

I do think that the Boys probably next year will start looking hard at his replacement.

One never knows how things play out in an actual draft...and they wanted some rounding out veteran talent before the draft was reached. This is just a stitch in time for the Cowboys.

They've said several times recently that they like entering the draft able to draft honestly....with no undue sense that they must take a certain postion early.
They made additions last year at positions of perceived urgent need right before the draft.

Not that this guy is a big differnce maker...

I'm not trying to beat you down or anything your opinion is valuable and mine or anybody else's isn't fact........that being said

I totally disagree with you. Dez has had some injury problems the past few seasons and when you add to the fact he didn't get as much work in with a rookie QB you seen some struggles. You seen better chemistry and Dez have some monster games in the 2nd half and was one of the main reasons we got back into the Packers playoff game. I think with Dak being the number 1 all off-season and Dez 100 percent you will see a much improved passing attack.

I think as soon as Dak is capable of throwing more then 20 yds down the field connsistantly and accurately all WRs not named Beasley or Witten will flourish.

I certainly am hoping this is the case. Dez Bryants future will be known after this coming season for sure.

That's silly our offense wasn't a deep passing team. We controlled the clock and Dak can throw past 20 yards unlike Wentz.

By the way Dez lead the team with almost 16 yards a catch.......Beasley only 11 yards.

Beasley still had more total yards and receptions and Beasley is more reliable to play every game.

And Dez had more TDs. Seriously you don't have to comment about Beasley everytime you see Dez name. Beasley fails when Dez doesn't play and can't be a number 1. No one is scared of Beasley

Your insecurity of Dez being outperformed by the Beas is pathetic. Dez should always always always have better stats than Beas in every category, but he doesn't. Beas isn't and will never be a #1 WR but that's not because he fails.
