This is how you are supposed to use the draft process, you take the best player available and don't reach to fill a need.
You could make a strong case that we landed 2 1st rd picks on day 2:
-DE as I will call him had tremendous sack production which usually translates. He is long, athletic and has an advance tool chest of pass rushing moves where there shouldn't be a long, developmental curve. Yes, he needs to add more weight to his frame/get stronger, but we may have found the ideal #2 pass rusher opposite Parsons. Many think he is similar to former BC edge rusher Harold Landry.
-Revel-before his injury, many believed he was the 3rd best corner in this class behind Hunter/Johnson. He is the prototype that they look for at the position: long, fast and good ball skills. Another former wide receiver. More of a press corner, but he has the ability to play in any coverage scheme. He gives the team another #1 corner and flexibility with Bland's decision moving forward.
Day 3 Expectations
-RB and DT were the deepest positions in this year's class, there still should be quality options available even in rd 5. I would consider a move up for either position to get their guy.
-After the top 3 off the ball linebackers came off the board, there was another linebacker worth a day 2 pick. Day 3 has several options that can still help our positional group.
-As I said in the past, if we don't take a high WR, probably best not to draft one at all as they won't be an upgrade of what we already have. This is where the Cowboys either got to make a trade or sign a fa as a stop gap. Amari Cooper just makes too much sense, but did he burn his bridges with the team?
