This is how you are supposed to use the draft process, you take the best player available and don't reach to fill a need.

You could make a strong case that we landed 2 1st rd picks on day 2:

-DE as I will call him had tremendous sack production which usually translates. He is long, athletic and has an advance tool chest of pass rushing moves where there shouldn't be a long, developmental curve. Yes, he needs to add more weight to his frame/get stronger, but we may have found the ideal #2 pass rusher opposite Parsons. Many think he is similar to former BC edge rusher Harold Landry.

-Revel-before his injury, many believed he was the 3rd best corner in this class behind Hunter/Johnson. He is the prototype that they look for at the position: long, fast and good ball skills. Another former wide receiver. More of a press corner, but he has the ability to play in any coverage scheme. He gives the team another #1 corner and flexibility with Bland's decision moving forward.

Day 3 Expectations

-RB and DT were the deepest positions in this year's class, there still should be quality options available even in rd 5. I would consider a move up for either position to get their guy.

-After the top 3 off the ball linebackers came off the board, there was another linebacker worth a day 2 pick. Day 3 has several options that can still help our positional group.

-As I said in the past, if we don't take a high WR, probably best not to draft one at all as they won't be an upgrade of what we already have. This is where the Cowboys either got to make a trade or sign a fa as a stop gap. Amari Cooper just makes too much sense, but did he burn his bridges with the team?

Thought they crushed day 2. Hope to see them stick to BPA today.

Would love to see us come away with a 1T and some juice at RB. Heck even double at both if values there.

Imagine where this team's talent level would be now if we had followed this same safe process over the last 3-4 years for the 1st three rounds.
If only they could actually use fa, they would be able to draft this way.

There is still a ton of valued picks left at those positions. Many thought the RB run would of started in the 3rd rd, but just two backs came off the board. There also is quality corners available, wonder if they target a nickel.

EZ was a good pick but dont look for him a Micah to play tandem DEs, they are too light

It will be him and Micah on one side and Kneeland/Williams on the other

In the nickel, they both will be rushing the passer!

Bpa today. Period. Use the draftboard accordingly. Don't get desperate and trade. We have too many holes to fill. I like Phil Mafah or the Rutgers RB in rd 5. Can't rule out Skattebo.

I disagree with not trading.

We have 7 picks left. How many of those 7 players will make the team? Trade up for a starter at RB.

I think this will let them move Micah around more...not just rushing off the edge.

Which top NFL 4-3 defense puts 2 245 lb DEs in the nickel when they have average DTs like us?

If im the OC with 5-6 yds to get and see a line of EZ, Osa, Mazi, Micah, i run it with a very high probability of making it

They are going to get bullied in the run game

Yeah, but ‘around’ where?
With our crap at DT it will not be pretty
Yes, they will get ‘pressures’ and ‘sacks’ but no way you win in cold weather and in playoffs against good run teams doing this

Good for ‘stats’ not for playoff wins

Many teams use a nascar package where they play many de’s at the same time

My hopes as well. There's 3 backs left with home run potential Smith, Blue, Tuten. Hoping for one of them.

He's really not a 1T despite the size but I want to roll the dice on Deone Walker at this point. The 2023 tape and fact he was playing injured last year warrant it to me.

Don was actually very good against the run at Boston College with 80 tackles and 21 TFL last season. He will obviously need to get stranger but he could develop into an edge setter. Dlaw was 251 when he was drafted.

EZ is stronger than what some think. He put up 22 reps at the combine, while Booker put up 21. He'll even get stronger as he hangs out in an NFL weight room. Has extremely long arms and that helps him with leverage and holding the edge, but those arms didn't do him any favors with those 22 reps. 16.5 sacks, 60 QB pressures,21 tackles for loss, and 80 tackles. He lives in the backfield.

Post draft Stephen, “the draft just didn’t fall that way and we had guys rated higher” for the 3rd consecutive year when we don’t have a RB……..
Good morning Aven8 , what running back do you want Dallas to draft on day 3 picks are getting slim.
