Thoughts On Denver

By far that was the best team we have played this season. It is impossible for me to be too down about the loss because that was a very good team across the field. We matched them all day long and could have won if fortune had smiled on Cundiff's FG attempt.

I give everyone their due if they are frustrated. I'm frustrated too, but part of me is a bit elated. I saw a good team out there today standing toe to toe with one of the 2 best teams I've watched all year. Gives me some hope that when injuries and rookie jitters are through this team could make a mark.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not happy. At the same time I saw enough to feel optimistic. There are a lot of areas to improve on. We're a lot closer than I expected coming into this year.

Yes sir!!!!

Im trying to figure out when was the last time the Cowboys have entertained me and played a game like that. Against an opponent who clearly has bigger things in store for them.

Denver stole that game from us.

San Diego
Seattle
Washington
Giants
Denver

We beat the Giants and SD, but you can argue that the other 3 three were literally stolen from us.

I dont count philly....

what a difference a year makes. we can see the team is on an upswing and a player or two away from being a leading contender.

Good observation and excellent post. They played their arses off against a very good team. Plenty to be happy about and look forward to despite the hard loss. This team will be there around playoff time.;)

Great thread.

We all know there's no such thing as a moral victory, but I totally agree that there were a lot of positives about today. A lot. First and foremost is that besides the talent that's been added the last three years, this team has guts. It's mentally tough and doesn't quit. That's one of the first things Parcells wants in a team, and you could hear in his voice after the game that he knows this team has that. He was proud of his team, and as a fan, so was I.

Nobody wins every game, and we are no exception. But there can no longer be any doubt that we're finally on the right track.

Before this season started if you had told me I wouldn't be saying Philly was huge wins I'd have laughed myself silly. They still are big given the recent past, but not as big as we thought they would be.

The Chargers are good. Seattle is good. This team was better than both of them. Denver is good in all aspects of the game.

If Denver had Bell in there or ran Dayne more they would have crucified us. We do not defend the edge well against the run.

I shudder to think what Tiki Barber and Larry Johnson will do to us when the OCs get a look at the game film.

I dont agree with that assessment at all.

Denver is a team that has run the ball sometimes at will over the league since Shannahan took over. I never felt that Denver's running game was really taking over the game at any point, save Dayne's last run obviously. I really don't think Bell would have made that big a difference, or that Dayne is someone like Thomslinson who needs to be fed the ball.

This is easily the best team we faced all year, and we had every chance to win it.

Tough, tough loss. But we stood our ground with one of the league's best, and honestly I feel better about this team than I did when I woke up this morning despite it.

Couldn't agree more.

Cowboys have nothing to be ashamed of. They'll be better next year.

If we're fortunate enough to make the playoffs.....I can't see anyone who would look forward to playing us.

Hostile, I agree with you, although I am still quite concerned with the run blocking (or lack thereof...) of our OL and the play calling seems to be "so" predictable. It just seems as though we run so many plays up the middle, I'd like to see some more off-tackle runs mixed in as well.

Which is why I cannot be down on this team. Those games we lost against Seattle, Washington and Denver were situations where just plain abnormalities took place.

Well, abnormalities may be a stretch but giving up 2 long bombs to the Skins, trying to move the ball against the Hawks in the wanning minutes even though we were nowhere near field goal range and your kicker had already missed a 24 yard field goal and kicked a kickoff out of bounds, and now against Denver a kicker kicks a 34 yarder, which most will tell you is pretty much a chip shot.

Say what you want about Parcells, but man, when is the last time we had to opportunity to at least SNIFF 8-3?

But to be honest, our schedule is brutal as heck. No more cupcakes or easy wins. As a matter of fact, I bet most people on this board would have predicted we would go about 1-4 or maybe 2-3 in this stretch, with wins over the Skins who are not a cakewalk anymore and the G-Men.

Now, I can really see this team losing or winning to any of our last 5 opponents.

Like I said, if we keep having games go down to the wire, I may have a Heart Attack at 27  .

I am with you on the heart attack. The ticker can't take much more.

Oh, I forgot to mention a couple of things that we can hang our hat on.

Anthony Henry didnt play and Crayton could return at some point during the season. I just wish I could say the same thing about Flozell, man, we could really use him.

Dat too.

I noticed Shanle didn't start, Fowler did.

BTW, Bradie James is the nicest surprise this season so far.

Yet another game we should have won. Very frustrating. Well, I said this team would go 11-5. They have only one more loss to prove me right. They should have won it.

I don't get what happened when Bledsoe threw that INT. It looked like a really bad pass.

Cundif missed a would should be a routine FG. We would have won.

We have to stop giving our wins away.

That said, this team is strong and can beat just about anybody, except maybe Colts and Steelers. And maybe with a little luck they could beat them, too.
