Thoughts on NFC East?

How does everyone feel about our standing and our rivals right now?

I'm really not sure what to make of any team right now (including us). We've had some extreme ups and downs, from the worst game of Romo's career against SF, to the most efficient game of the Garrett era against Tenn, to a horrible showing followed by the biggest comeback in franchise history against STL.

Then you look at Philly. Started the season against Jax worse than we started against Tenn only to have a dominant second half, then had an impressive win over a Colts team who is better than their record suggests, then had an epic division battle and squeaked out a win against Washington. They're 3-0 at the moment but they've definitely looked beatable, and Foles looks like he's come back down to Earth.

Then you have Washington. They looked awful against a Texans team who got manhandled by the Giants, but they looked great against a Jaguars team who scared Philly. Then they had the epic game against Philly where they barely lost. And just last night they got embarrassed by the Giants (which I'll get to next). It looked like the RGIII injury would allow Cousins to make this team a legit contender, but Cousins looked so bad against NY. Was it a fluke?

Finally, you have a Giants team who most experts and fans thought would be battling for the 1st overall pick in the 2015 draft. Well, they're 2-2 and coming off an impressive win over Washington. They started the season how we expected getting destroyed by a mediocre Lions team, then they lost to a very good Arizona team, but then they went on to win 2 straight, handling a Texans team that was 2-0 at the time, and then destroying Washington last night.

So, can anyone make anything out of any of this? Giants = 2 blowout wins and 2 blowout losses, Philly = 3-0 but not an impressive win yet (maybe against Indy), Dallas = ups and downs, and Washington = looking awful with their only win being a 41-10 annihiliation of the Jaguars.

Anyone care to decipher this?

The division still has much to prove. Philly has beaten one decent team and needed a little help from the refs in order to do so, the Giants have beaten a bad Commanders team and a team in Houston without a QB, Dallas has beaten two bad teams, and the Commanders are just a bad team. Still too early to tell.

Until we see our full defense I'm not sure what to think. They have played a little better than I thought for not being healthy.
I think the Giants are getting used to the new offense, if Eli doesn't have to hang on to the ball long he's a weapon. That 6'5 dude?
we have no one who can defend him.

Philly will do what Philly does, tank.
Washington is just funny.

Nice post and thought on these teams.
But be careful, you may be accused of creating a moral victory thread by saying Eagles look beatable, as I was....:D

I was trying to decide about last nights Giants / Commanders game, did the Giants finally get their offense working, or did the just expose the Commanders defense for what it might be.
Was it just 2 average teams playing each other.

Eagles look good, but as you said, and I said before, they aren't this juggernaut people think they are. But they will be a challege to their oppponents every week. Offense looks good but defense is vulnerable.

Who has any of these teams rally played, other than the Eagles / Colts that can say anyone stands out, or is lacking. Sproles won that game against the colts, and McCoys seems to get stopped more so than in the past.

Even our defense has a ways to go, but our offense is getting it together. That could be a shoot out for our game against the Eagles, but it is a long way off yet too.

Division is still wide open, and for now the Commanders is the team that looks to fall behind this group.
Eagles at 49ers, and that will or should show some things, as our game with the saints will too. however, no matter the outcome of both games, it is still early in the season.

The only decent team anyone in the NFCE has beaten has been Philly over the Colts.

The Giants have been gifted two wins by horrific QB play. Before the Cousins meltdown last night Fitzpatrick handed them 3 INTs as well. The Texans aren't a good enough team to overcome that. That said, Eli might be getting more comfortable in the new offense too.

Washington is a perennial joke. Couldn't happen to a nicer fan-base.

We have the a slightly stumbling Saints and the Eagles get the stumbling 49ers. Should have a better idea Monday.

Philly - Last year's division winner. Looking pretty good but not great. Offense is scary.
.
.
Dallas - Definitely has a chance to overcome Philly for the top spot. Probably the most physical team in the NFC East, and that will always give you a shot.
.
.
.
.
NY - Who knows what you will get with them. Horrible first two games and then pretty good the last two.

Washington - Even Zorn was able to win 6 of his first 8 games before teams figured out the new coach. Gruden looks... um, overmatched. :lmao:

I have no idea what to make of the East yet. That game last night really threw me for a loop.
This weekend will tell us a lot. EAG v. SF and DAL v. NO...a couple of good measuring sticks.

I agree. If Philly has an impressive win over SF then you have to label them legit. But knowing the NFC East, they'll get blown out.

Agree

Right now I would say the division is Philly, Dallas, Giants, Washington................but this weekend will start to separate the contenders from the pretenders.

If the Eagles beat SF and we lose to NO, I think it will be pretty clear to everybody that the Eagles are the best team in the division.

Still a bit early. I still think Eagirls are the best in the division but there's no clear cut dominant team right now but that goes for the whole NFL.

I think its going to take a few weeks to get this sorted out. Probably will take until we play each other.

Simple:

Philly beat the worst team in the league.
Philly beat an Indy team that probably isn't as good as you'd like to think. Defense is terrible.

NYG got smoked by a solid Detroit team.
NYG got handled by a good Arizona team without their QB (who is avg himself)

Washington lost to Houston who isn't that good.
Washington beat Jacksonville who may be the worst team in the league

NYG beats a poor Houston team (with wins against an awful Commanders team and an awful Raiders team).
Philly almost loses at home to an awful Commanders team.

NYG beat an awful Commanders team.

Dallas was sloppy and lost their first game and almost lost their 3rd.

It tells me that none of these teams are all that great right now, and none of the accomplishments thus far are impressive. And Washington looks to be the worst of the bunch.

Everyone but Dallas has won the division past 3 years. Sad part is, we had chance to be the division champs all 3 years. Maybe, just maybe, it's our turn.

Lineman and Murray gives me little bit of hope.

I think that the eagles are the best team because they can score more points and score when they need to when there backs are up against the wall. the eagles defense is average. then the giants are second but not by much over the cowboys. the giants defense is not great but they have more turnovers then any defense in the division. the giants offense is starting to get real good which is not good for the cowboys. the only thing that the cowboys do better then the rest of the division so far is running the ball. the Commanders o-line is average and their defense is falling apart two weeks in a row. the eagles will win the division.

Speaking of the NFC East... where are all of our Washington Fan members? I haven't seen them around today much.

Both the Eagles and the Giants look capable of attacking the weakness of the Cowboys defense. (Please get and stay healthy Ro)

The Cowboys shouldn't have much trouble getting their points against either of them though.

The Skins.... lol

If Eli keeps playing like he did last night and their offense continues to improve they are the biggest threat imo.

It's still early though. It's hard to tell what's what until we get to November.

The Eagles have been down 10+ points in every game they have played. The Colts giftwrapped that game for them.

With that being said I am not impressed with any team in the division. We can win it.
