Some people tend to think that if you are a better player then someone else, then you are better at every aspect of the game.
All I did was say Martin was better at ONE aspect of the game. Overall, he's not anywhere near the player Hoyte is, but his BLOCKING was good.
I don't understand how that's so difficult to comprehend. He's out of the league cuz ALL he could do was block. He couldn't play special teams, he couldn't run the ball, and he couldn't catch the ball. You have to do more then just run block to keep a job as a FB in today's NFL.
First off, players like Lorenzo Neal play exactly ZERO special teams, never run the ball unless its an attempt at a surprise play, and dont even know how to catch. They are simply on the roster because they blow people out of the hole in the running game. There are a few more of these guys in the NFL as well, Dan Kreider comes to mind. So your last sentence is 100% false
Secondly, most of your arguments contradict each other. Hoyte is a better player, hes faster, bigger, stronger, and moves better laterally, can make a BUNCH of block Martins cant make, but Martin is a better blocker because he can move a guy better if...and only IF... its a straight up one on one block requiring no movement in space? Yeah, ok.
Being as big of an Ohio State fan as you will ever meet, take it from me, Martin can block on dive/iso plays...thats IT. Period. Dont ask him to lead a sweep play, or even worse, a counter. I cant think of the number of time I saw him running around the corner on a counter play at Ohio State with one man between the RB and him, and watching Martin miss so bad, and the RB getting blown up. I had really high hopes for that guy, but he was a bust, and thats all there is too it. His complete lack of laterall movement or agility has prevented him from making multiple NFL rosters. Say whatever you want, but there is a converted ROOKIE LBer who hasnt played FB since high school who has a starting job in the NFL while Martin isnt even on a roster
