It has an Atom processor in it. That's an extremely weak processor.
weak is polite. they're borderline worthless.

chromebook is a tablet w/a keyboard. if you need to do things like office and so forth a standard laptop w/windows would work better. if you're ok w/freeware apps a chromebook can work also.

I made the switch back to a PC from a laptop and there's a huge difference.

If you have a large tower PC and a laptop both with the same hardware specs, you'll notice a performance difference just because of heat. Laptops heat up more and go a little slower accordingly.

I would consider strong PC's for boys with supplementary tablets rather than laptops, but that's just me.

So what did you decide on?
Think I'm gonna hold off for now. May upgrade to a full size Android tablet, but pause on the laptop.

I think my time will be better spent teaching about how to use the Internet resourcefully and safely on my laptop first.

It would've been for a girl, but I kinda like that thought process.

I didn't know much when I was shopping around for my daughter's laptop, so I asked my computer tech for his advice. He recommended the HP Pavillion. 11.6" with a reversible touch screen. She's had it for almost 2 1/2 years. Loves it, small enough to carry in her back pack and large enough for all of her needs. Great support from HP and equipped with Beats Audio. Very reasonable price at Sam's. Gonna get her another one this Christmas, just don't tell her. lol

If your girl is a bigtime gamer, then sure. :) My son is much more into resource-hog games than my daughter, which is why I just said boys. My daughter plays games, but it's never the latest and greatest (so to speak).

Either way, you should seriously consider a desktop unless you travel a lot.
