Honestly if people's only criteria for not liking Escobar is that we are 0-2 on 2nd round TEs then ill take it. He's on the team. Lets stop complaining about where the guy was drafted....

Yeah Esco is coming along nicely. Slowly improving his blocking and is a shoe and a toe from two more TDs lol

so far so good

if Escobar can continue to be a threat downfield and in the redzone, that draft selection looks to be good too
Escobar and Hanna or both key to what the Cowboys want to do running a base 2TE set. They have modeled themselves on what New England did with Gronkowski and Hernandez, where you force a defense to make a choice in how they defend. Nickel to cover? Run to exploit the lighter, pass oriented defense. Base to defend the run? Split the TE's wide and exploit heavier and slower defenders. The problem is that both TE's must be able to block well and receive well. Witten is a no-brainer. Escobar? The jury's out at the moment. Also, running the no-huddle/hurry up can be extremely effective with two stud tight ends, forcing defenses into situations that don't allow substitutions. If Dallas can just get Dunbar to protect the ball then the offense can present even more wrinkles.

With the tenderness of Austin's hamstring, I would not be surprised to see more of Escobar, Harris and Williams as receiving theats as the season wears on.

Good to see he hasn't snapped the ball over Romo's head... yet. Our interior line looks really good

He looks solid, OC is not a possition we're going to worry about for a long time i think

He was the best center in the entire draft and he is playing up to that billing so far in the NFL. He had a bad game in KC but even veterans will have the occasional bad game. Next time Fredrick faces Poe,he will be more experienced and the outcome will be totally different.

Outstanding.

He's been steadily improving as an inline blocker. But where he has been exponentially better than anything the Cowboy's had last year is with the line calls. How many whiffs are you seeing this year where a defender comes in totally untouched. How much confusion? Almost none. When there's pressure this year it's of the honest variety ... someone is just physically beaten. Outsmarting this line is a thing of the past. Very impressive,

The guy is a leader on the field...he should soon make everyone forget the trade-down and that he has earned his first round selection.

I like Frederick, Escobar at 2 was a waste to me, I'd like to be wrong but three number 2's at TE nd two of them are on other teams isn't good. Don't know who else was available there but I think they could have gone a different direction.

I think everyone needs to cool it down on escobars blown coverage td...I don't see it yet with him and I would have liked if we sured up the oline or dline in the second

Anyone who hates this draft class needs to review their judging criterion.

Lots of immediate help with tons of upside.

TFred: Proven very solid in the middle with one rough outing so far including even the 5 pre-season games. Dude is a hoss in there and clearly relies on strength.
Escobar: Cry all you want about TE but the Pats used two TE sets to change the way the game is played. Escobar is clearly a natural and long pass catcher that has real value. Witten has got to start getting some snaps off before they kill the poor guy.
TWill: While he certainly can look like a deer in the headlights at times, so did Dez as a rookie. His blocking has been superb and he certainly has NFL caliber skill. Seeing another Miles hammy injury today, TWill wasn't some luxury.
Wilcox: Played great today and looks the part.

More than fair to complain about some other draft classes but this one has been very good.

Totally agree, good post.

Fredericks is doing great, those Wisconsin lineman know how to play.

Haha, I love how people would rather downplay the a player's great play than be proven "wrong." Also, can we please stop using the second sentence without explaining WHO you would have drafted? Escobar has looked really solid -- his blocking has improved every week, he catches everything, and his TD was NOT based on blown coverage but rather Escobar running a perfect route.

Escobar is already a really good receiver, and was a good pick.

Better than advertised with lots of room for improvement. I didn't mind the pick, just didn't like the value we got for our trade down.

Escobar has the best hands on a Cowboy that I can remember. He catches everything in reach no matter the situation. He could easily have 3td's already. Wouldn't be surprised to see him snag 6-8 td's during the year.

For a rookie player the guy is showing he belongs at this level, he has come in on day one and has performed very good and given his history as a player he will only work to get better.
