so far Fredrick has been good and looks like he needs to get stronger in the offseason to handle bigger nosetackles. I hope he plays better against nosetackles in the 3-4 better then against the chiefs. the chargers will be another test for him against a 3-4.

No offense, but if you were a Cowboys fan, you would know that Warford wasn't on our board.

Oh, and stop with the "can't block" nonsense because it makes you sound foolish. His blocking has improved dramatically since the preseason.

Jason Witten had less than 350 yards and only one TD his rookie season, and if Escobar continues to improve he will easily eclipse those numbers, so to say he hasn't "looked good" for a second round pick shows your ignorance. Until the day you cease being a constant, unthinking, and unoriginal contrarian, your opinion cannot be taken seriously.

Sorry, didn't know you had input to the draft.........you asked me who I would have taken, and I gave you an answer and you tell me I am not a Cowboys fan cause he wasn't on our draft board???????????????? Ok, anyways
So his blocking has improved dramatically in one month? How many times was he in on plays blocking? and how many against KC? Did he play against KC? Just because we ran the ball good yesterday doesn't mean that Gavin Escobar is now a top 5 run blocking TE.......he wasn't even responsible for any runs
Don't do the stupid comparison game.......Every player and situation is different. Easily eclipse 350 yards.......I will put up $100 on that all day cause that means he would have to face a blown coverage at least 2 times per game

Was Witherspoon late getting over, yes. Was it a blown coverage. Heck no. He was actually with him for a couple steps at the 15. The problem was Witherspoon kept looking back at home two times and lost Escobar as Escobar bent his route slightly to the corner.

How is that dog named clue working out for you? But hey this is CZ, never let facts and a good rant get in the way of your agenda.

It WAS a BLOWN COVERAGE

Don't think strength's a problem. Poe used his quickness to beat him, so the issue was more about his technique. Good technique can help a lineman who isn't quick to overcome one who is.

If nose tackles want to battle Frederick with strength, I'm good with that. He isn't going to lose those battles too often because he anchors well.

Haha, I love how people would rather downplay the a player's great play than be proven "wrong." Also, can we please stop using the second sentence without explaining WHO you would have drafted? Escobar has looked really solid -- his blocking has improved every week, he catches everything, and his TD was NOT based on blown coverage but rather Escobar running a perfect route.

This .....

Apparently, you are blind or don't understand football.

Let me help you here:
The defender is running all the way from the other side of the field, by the time the ball is snapped the defender is clearly in the middle of the hash marks while Escobar is five yards off the right hash mark......the defender then takes a jab step at Witten as if he was going to try and cover him leaving a wide open Escobar for a TD........this was a complete blown coverage.......GO SEE THE PLAY

Just because you type in caps doesn't make you any more right. Just admit you are wrong.

Look at :15 seconds of the video you posted. You can clearly see Witherspoon is at MOST a yard away from Escobar. They are at the 19. Witherspoon was in coverage. You do know that corners and safeties play off more than 5 yards and still have coverage. Oh but that doesn't count right? smh like I said, don't like facts get in the way of your agenda.

Well the defense wasn't ready that's for sure. I think they're in a deep cover three rotated to the strong side. The SS probably should have picked Escobar up but most likely stayed with his assignment of that middle side. He went with Witten. The Sam was late on the field and he's probably supposed to take Escobar but I'd have been upset with the SS, too. He should have recognized the Sam having problems getting to his zone and played it safe. You can always come up and make a tackle. A first down given up is better than a TD.

This play is a good example of what these big hybrid TEs can do for you. We're in some strong right shotgun 4 wide spread formation with a hybrid TE spread far on the strong side as the F. Williams is the X and either Austin or Hanna is the W. I can't tell for sure probably Austin. There's no RB and I don't think the Rams could decide on a package to cover the formation. Either the Sam or the SS have to cover the Y in that zone coverage. The best matchup would have been the Sam on the Y and the SS on the F/H or let the SS take the deep strong 1/4 and the Sam the underneath rather than the other way. They should have blitzed the Will from near the LOS. They likely would have liked to play a nickel or dime package but you had two TEs on the same side of the field one as a F and one a Y. Hard to play those guys with little people.

There best move would have been to call a timeout.

BTW, Fred looks fine so far but we need a year or three to be sure. Up front he looks good. I've liked Escobar from the get go. Williams will learn his job and do fine or better. Wilcox will be terrific once he really learns the game. Right now he's playing on raw athletic talent which is considerable. I like Randle as an every down back and as an outlet. He'll have to get a chance to play though. Webb is way athletic and gifted but too raw to decide much yet.

We likes it.

Maybe if you presented your data in a different format it would be received better. Just sayin'.

Not bad for the last lineman taken in the 1st round, who supposedly had a 3rd round grade. :)
