Thursday Games

I think it's time for the NFL to have games every Thursday just like Monday, except for the last week of the season. More national games equals revenue. Besides I want to see people stop looking to take away the Thanksgiving games from the Cowboys and Lions. If the NFL wanted to they could have every team get a Thursday game.

I'm spoiled. I want more NFL dominating more nights of the week.

As I sit here on the rig with very little I find "watchable" I have to agree.

And who would you propose host the games? I'm like NBC's Sunday night football theme. So they have my vote. But I agree, more nationally broadcasted games please!.

I agree with you. Ideally I'd like to have a couple on Monday, a couple more on Thursday, and the rest on Sunday. The more football I actually get to watch the better.

I think you could do it between NFL Network, ESPN, and NBC. Give each a slice of the pie.

If they did 2 on Thursdays, I think the perfect scenario is every team plays 2 Thursday games. One at home, on on the road. 16 weeks, 2 games per week. They could devise a schedule to make this happen.

What I want is a duel doubleheader on Sundays. I see no reason why CBS and FOX cant both have a doubleheader every week.

Also, I would like to see one change on Thanksgiving. The Lions suck. Nobody likes their game. Plus, they are an NFC team like the Cowboys. I say the NFL should take away the Lions reign on Turkey Day and give it to the Steelers. Why the Steelers? Well because they are the most popular AFC team in the league. They are also the most successful franchise in the SB era. Give the Steelers the early game and the Cowboys the late game every Thanksgiving.

On the Turkey Night game, it should always be a divisional game....Pats/Dolphins, Giants/Eagles, Colts/Titans, etc. Of course, I could care less about this game anyway, since I will be watching the UT/A&M game, since it has been moved back to its rightful place of Thanksgiving night.

Love the idea.

The only thing that kills me with the NFL season is the loooong wait between Monday to Sunday. A Thursday game every week would alleviate much of that pain.

And it's a major plus if it keeps the league from removing the Cowboys and Lions from Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving has always been my favorite holiday and the Cowboys game has a LOT to do with that... the turkey won't taste quite as good if it doesn't come right after a 'Boys win.

Why wouldn't the NFL explore more time slots for games until the data shows that it's not profitable for them to do so?

Up until this point no matter what day or what time they put a game on they eat up the ratings. What's the down side for them?

I so agree with this. I live in Cardinals country and if they have a late game we get it. I hate that. If Indy and New England are playing on the other channel I want to go watch that game.

This is a good idea Hos...

If the NFL is as smart as they say they are, and we think they are, they will do this and give the weekly Thursday game to NFL Network. Since they are still trying to "sell" it to the cable companies. This would give them more leverage.

BUT, I dont know how that would affect the contracts with FoX, CBS, and NBC being that it would take away one game from the weekly pool available to those stations.

Regardless, I'd be all for it. Especially since I already have NFL Network

Tom Coughlin will complain but I think thats what the league is looking at. Theyve slowly been easing into it.

Do you make it flex though?

Thats the problem. It would hurt the less popular teams.

I don't agree. They get no % of the TV ratings. They get a % of the entire TV package. Give them more games they get a bigger slice of pie.

When I thought about this a few months ago my scenario was a split between the networks for the first 9-12 weeks. Then the NFLN keeps the late season Thursday games.

People will get a taste then want NFLN when theyre missing it

Sounds good to me. Infact put a game every night of the week. If they scheduled games at 3am id stay up and watch it.

BTW, anyone have the RedZone? I got it, it’s pretty cool. I don’t have to watch the Texan games anymore, woohoo!
