Thursday Practice Report

What's the deal? Is Irving faking an injury ala Ratliff? I didn't think a high ankle sprain kept someone out more than 4 weeks.

No, it typically takes 6 weeks, and in severe cases even longer. It apparently doesn't look that bad, not much swelling, etc. but it is substantially worse than a lower ankle sprain...

Fisher and The Fan hosts say they will be shocked if he plays again in 2018.

Irving reminds me of Thomas Henderson: immense talent but displays an inability to make mature and responsible decisions.

I, too, doubt he will ever play another down with the Cowboys. Pity.

Edit: Yes, I'm that old.

This bothers me more than anything else. Everyone can see how well this team is playing, especially defensively. And everyone can see their win streak and taking over the division and gaining momentum going into the playoffs. And every player is excited to be a part of it. Except for one guy, David Irving. Who can't even be bothered to show up to the facility for treatment.

Sorry, but there's no way to "misinterpret" that. This guy doesn't care about football, his teammates, or playing for the Dallas Cowboys. Go be happy in whatever does bring you satisfaction in life. Go be happy. But stop wasting everyone's time masquerading as a football player.

Won't be surprised if he does not.
It is not like he ended being a huge loss to the DL they way they are playing. Could they use him if he gets back, yes. But if not. Then so be it.

Cut Irving already.
No. He'll be pretty fresh when he gets back and take our front 7 to yet another level for the stretch run and playoff push.

They are smart to keep him around.**

Glass half empty: he's an unreliable headache

Glass half full: yeah, but he's a talented headache that won't get nearly as much money as his talents should demand.

Translation: Jerry can re-sign him on the cheap and still give contracts to Tank, Coop, extend Dak, etc.

** same thing can be said about Randy Gregory

Are you really waiting for his return?

I'm done with him. I thought Gregory was unreliable. This guy is on another level. Give me guys you can count on every week.

And look at Gregory now. Maybe his demons are behind him now.
So Irving can get his behind him too.

I will be glad when Irving is off this team so I don't have to hear about him anymore.

Oh you will hear about him. Fans on here can't let go of the past failed players rather for real or perceived. And keep bringing them up. :lmao:

He's a full blown idiot.

The team will be better off when he's gone.

You would think a guy who's 25 years old would have matured, but that's not always the case.

Not saying the Cowboys should offer him a big or multi year contract, but they know him better than we do, maybe he's getting his act together. All we know is he didn't rehab in the Dallas area, could be lots of reasons why, again we don't know.

He does have skills, and is definitely able to make some plays.

I just won't make any judgment on him, I'll leave that up to the Cowboys. If he leaves, then it just didn't work out. If he stays, he's got to produce and be available...

Good post. But those fans that are perfect and are on high horses that throw stones at glass houses will not like it. :lmao:
They will not understand this concept.

I don't put him in as a quitter. This is what gets me about fans. They let their personal feeling and viewpoints cloud their judgements. As we as fans do not know what is really going on.
Maybe he has given up, don't care, taking the money. But until that comes out as the case, I will give him the benefit of the doubt. Still injured along with some personal reasons, or could be the injury was more severe. You know how this team drags out players return to the field. always longer than anticipated.

I could be wrong in thinking that way, many disagree but that is the way I look at it.

Also remember if they cut him, he still gets his money. So it does nothing to cut him, if that is the case and he did just give up.
And whoever takes his roster spot, needs to get paid, and would most likely just be inactive anyway, as who would they sign that will be better to be active and produce.
We have an injury in the playoffs, we might need him. Attitude or not. Doesn’t hurt to keep him.
