Much has been made about Tony Romo being of Mexican heritage. Did a goggle on him and found out the following. It's funny, Romo is the same kind of American as we all are -- of mixed varied heritage.

On his father's side:

Romo's half Mexican; 1/4 Italian & 1/4 Irish

On his mother-s side:

His mother, Joan, is of German/Polish descent.

In other words, Tony's a mixed breed just like every American.

But of course, with Jerry Jones and the NFL anxious to gain entry (make big bucks) into the Hispanic Community not only in the U.S. but throughout Mexican and the rest of Central/South America, Romo's success couldn't have happened at a better time. He'll be the poster boy for Jerry's entire merchandise marketing scheme.

Hmmm. I wonder if MBIII's background contains any Hispanic lines? Just kidding.

Antonio Ramiro Romo...... sounds like the hispanic part of his heritage was pretty big, just looking at the name.

Plus Romo is half chicano not "mexican" since his father was born in the US. Like myself.

I think his grandfather and father were born in Mexico. I noticed while I watched videos of training camp that the team is attracting more Hispanics fans. I think DMN on its blog mentioned that the NFL did not promote Romo when the league celebrated Hispancis.

Romo is a third-generation Mexican American on his father's side. Tony Romo is 1/2 Mexican, 1/4 Italian, and 1/4 Irish decendence. His grandfather, Ramiro Romo Sr., emigrated from Múzquiz, Coahuila, Mexico to San Antonio, Texas as an adolescent.

Unless his grandfather went back to Mexico to have his dad, then Romo's dad was born in the US.

Ramiro:
But, soft! what light through yonder window breaks?
It is the east, and Carrie is the sun.
Arise, fair sun, and kill the envious moon,
Who is already sick and pale with grief,
That thou her maid art far more fair than she:
Be not her maid, since she is envious;
Her vestal livery is but sick and green
And none but fools do wear it; cast it off.
It is my lady, O, it is my love!
O, that she knew she were!
She speaks yet she says nothing: what of that?
Her eye discourses; I will answer it.
I am too bold, 'tis not to me she speaks:
Two of the fairest stars in all the heaven,
Having some business, do entreat her eyes
To twinkle in their spheres till they return.
What if her eyes were there, they in her head?
The brightness of her cheek would shame those stars,
As daylight doth a lamp; her eyes in heaven
Would through the airy region stream so bright
That birds would sing and think it were not night.
See, how she leans her cheek upon her hand!
O, that I were a glove upon that hand,
That I might touch that cheek!

Carrie:
Oh Ramiro, Ramiro! wherefore art thou Ramiro?
Deny thy father, and refuse thy name
Or, if thou wilt not, be but sworn my love,
And I'll no longer be an Underwood!

lol @ that distinction, when italian and polish and irish and german are all the same thing, mexico is a country of origin for his family and likely the lineage continues into native mexican indians and perhaps spanish decent. Its kind of silly to dismiss mexican because he was born here, you don't do that with any other part of his heritage. I am not being rude with this, but that distinction between chicano and mexican has always bothered me when that is never even considered with any other heritage country.

So if my math is correct, Romo is...

1/4 Mexican
1/4 German
1/4 Polish
1/8 Italian
1/8 Irish

I will dig my key into the side of your pretty little souped up 4 wheel drive,
carve my name into your leather seats...
I' take a Louisville slugger to both headlights,
slash a hole in all 4 tires...

lolZ, i'm not saying it was bad.... it was just the only one I knew...: since I happen to fall in the same category. I personally don't think when somebody says "Mexican" they mean it in a harmful way, it's really just semantics and me being goofy. Sorry if I came off as if I was taking exception to it.

You're a sick man.

I'm impressed.

People from Mexico, like people from most countries in this world often come from somewhere else. That's why we call it the NEW WORLD people.

This isn't capitalization on his background - Romo's dad is Mexican and that's a big part of Tony's background -- that his dad's parents are half something and half something else is irrelevant. Wow, just like here.

So why is this important?

It's important because it's the bye week. Another words, we are all bored and we need things to talk about besides "Barber should start", "Roy sucks in coverage", "When is TG comming back", "Staback should return kicks", and "Who is Romo boinking now?"

Well my name is Von Kunz and that is almost as german as it gets but I am only 1/8th german on my fathers side. The name has nothing to do with it. A name is a name, I am also irish less irish then german but I am irish so If I where to name my daughter a very irish name would it make her any more Irish? No she would have a Irish name but still be the same amount of irish no matter what I name her.

His father is a Mexican American. His grandfather was born in Mexico and migrated to the U.S.

Hmm, could it be because San Antonio is primarly Hispanic that you noticed more Hispanics on the videos?

Mexican Americans as well as Mexican Citizens have allways supported the Dallas Cowboys.
