I wish I had JGs job. Get paid for nothing while the ship burns and have everybody else take the fall. Hell, I'd Surround myself with quality assistants and let them do their thing. Without any experience and I'll be a million times the coach JG ever was.

Well myself and many others are hoping he gets released so there's not much to get used to. lol

Agreed.

I just really want to move on. He's still a HOFer...but not anymore bro. We don't need the happy go lucky attitude anymore.

When was the draft/free agency?

We're cap strapped and even if we drafted a rookie D Ware it would still be a year at least before he got good enough to make a big impact.

This was our year to do something and we completely botched it and now it looks like we will botch it even more with keeping Jason.

Garrett as our coach next season sets us back 2 years. Also.. Good luck hiring any assistants when every assistant knows he is on the hottest seat in football.

I suspect the Cowboys will re-negotiate Ware's contract, with lower guarantees, but incentives that will allow Ware to save face, and claim it's not a step down. It will be interesting to see, as Jerry does not like to cut the faces of the team, and also doesn't like incentive based contracts. Will be interesting to see if which way the deal jumps.

Miles Austin checked out a long time ago, many of us didn't want to believe it either...

Ware won't go for anything less than 5MM for the exact reason Free didn't go for anything less than 3MM - the agents know that releasing the player would cost the team more money than that price. If you remember the timeline on Free renegotiating, it took forever. Dallas threatened to cut him, his agent said "fine, it will cost you more to do that" and both sides settled at 3MM - the exact cap hit of cutting him. Free had zero leverage so his new salary ended up at exactly the cap hit of cutting him.

Ware has more leverage because if his problems were all about his injuries last year, he is clearly capable of getting healthy and putting up a double digit sack season. IMO Ware will take a cut of 5MM or so but with incentives added that can make more if he rebounds. The team will essentially be gambling 1 or 2MM in cap space - plus the incentives - that he returns to form.
They save 7.5M on the cap if they release him.

I would not be surprised at all to see Ware leave and have a few great Pro Bowl caliber years somewhere else like New England. I m not saying we should not cut him because he has not lives up to what we are paying him but if he lands with a good coach he may very well look like his old self. All these years of Wade and Garrett are taking there toll.

Chances of returning to Cowboys: DeMarcus Ware 50% (with pay cut), Jason Hatcher 15%, Miles Austin 0.01%.

Think people getting used to the fact that Ware could get released if he doesnt take pay cut.

I don't think Ware is going anywhere and I don't think he'll be getting a pay cut. I do think he'll restructure his deal because the Cowboys need the space.

Hatcher seems like he's going to leave on his own accord. Austin would definitely have to take a pay cut to return.

I'm not for trading these guys can we do some trades please ? I for one don't think Ware is finish but he could do better. We would be fools to let these guys walk without receiving any draft picks.

Personally, I think it is time to move on. Psycologically, it would be very beneficial for the team to release Ware and send a big message. Ware is not here and someone will have to step up. Opportunity is knocking. Ware couldn't get it done and now is injury prone. I am not interested in restructuring and continuing to pay for disappearing acts in big games and injuries as excuses. No more. Let some other team and fan base get all excited about his potential and then get let down. I have had enough.

And also let Romo know that basically 2014 is his last year here unless he does something in the playoffs.

Have you people forgot who you're dealing with here? This is a man who had secret sauce that was leading us to a Super Bowl.

By now jerry has convinced himself injuries are the only reason we're not 16-0. He will re-do all these guys contracts, draft a TE, some ST help, and proclaim the secret sauce has aged and is really ready this year.

I think that's the most likely scenario also.
Not saying I like it, just most likely.

Sadly, I can see this happening.
Word for word.

Told y'all before the year that this year was our best chance to do anything and it wasn't very well accepted.

Now we might've seen the last of D Ware with no help on the horizon.

There is never a better time to rebuild with a new coaching staff and we're just going to stay status quo. It makes me sick.

the event horizon is near as the draft

There isn't a snowballs chance in hell Ware accepts less than 9 million/yr. We have absolutely no leverage and he knows it. There isn't another player on this roster capable of being a 3-down pass rusher. He was garbage this season, but he can just say it was the injuries...

I'll believe it when I see it. This organization has shown very little ability to be cut throat with their star players.

True.
What would Bill Belichek do?
well we know what they would do.

I could see getting a 3rd for Ware from a team like NE. Personally I like Clowney ALOT

Hatcher is a FA... You can't trade him.

Ware's and Austin's contracts makes trading them very difficult. First off the Cowboys would have to suck-up all their bonus money in this year's cap... and that would be a big number. Secondly no team would accept Ware's salary of $12mil next season... Simply not going to happen. Austin's isn't nearly as large but let's face it, anything over $1mil is too much for the guy.

Bottom line you another team isn't going to take these guys at their present salaries AND give the Cowboys a draft pick or picks on top of that.

Not gonna happen.
