Well myself and many others are hoping he gets released so there's not much to get used to. lol

How fickle we fans are.

I for one would hope he returned to pre injury form rather than an outright cut with the Boys having to find his replacement and swallowing the dead cap money.

If not that then yes a pay cut, but an outright release?

even the great Troy Aikman got released. He could do Jerry a favor and just retire. I dont see much left in the tank. The same applies to Austin. Of course that's just my opinion. Jerry bases his personel moves on the amount of jerseys he can peddle so who knows.

I know everybody has their day, but considering reports from training camp on how he was abusing Tyron Smith and knowing he played with injury, I’d like to see what he could do next year if (and it's a big if) healthy.

consider the last three seasons he's had injuries that have prevented him for going full speed. consider that report. chances are he will have injuries in 2014.

I really find it odd that fans, but especially even the player himself, is referring to the fact he "abused" Smith in training camp as some sort of badge of honor.

I do not think I have ever heard a player do that. "Well, I was killing it at half speed in practice".

And with the 4-3 he takes even more punishment.

I'm sure he will however I hope (unlike quite a number on this site) that he can contribute next year, because the state the defense is in we need all the help we can get and we don't need to be paying even more dead money to players have moved on.

Be that as it may, many were reporting in camp he looked really good against (as we were to find out during the season) a very good LT.

It was practice with next to nothing at stake except maybe a little bit of pride running at half to three quarters speed. Not impressed. Sorry.

You can take what you want from those reports for all I care, however I don't think they amount to nothing.

We'll agree to disagree.

Also I think the most likely scenario if Ware returns is Selvie or Crawford being his backup to give him significant rest during games next year. That will keep him fresher and reduce the chances of injury.

Absolutely!!! Because hope is ultimately the best strategy. See the last few years as an example:
2011 - Cut most of the (admittedly underperforming) experienced OL. Bring in unsuccessful castoffs from other teams. Hope it works.
2012 - Convince yourself that a combination of injuries and no continuity on the OL was the only cause of all of our OL problems in 2011. Hope another year with the same scrubs will do the trick.
2013 - Finally fix the OL by drafting a center, releasing Livings, and signing Waters. Declare Spencer (hurt in preseason - IR), Ratliff (hurt the prior two years - released, never played), Hatcher (pretty good) and Ware (hurt most of 2012 and playing a new position in 2013 where he will take more physical abuse) as a strength and hope they really are a strength.

There’s a big difference in hoping that multiple things will happen and that one thing could happen.

Last year I was hoping they could still find a way to get Free back to playing at the level he had shown when he broke into the starting line-up rather that releasing him outright.

It worked didn’t it?

This year I’d hope they could do the same for Ware.

The alternative isn’t going to be good for Dallas.

Chances of returning to Cowboys: DeMarcus Ware 50% (with pay cut), Jason Hatcher 15%, Miles Austin 0.01%.

Think people getting used to the fact that Ware could get released if he doesnt take pay cut.

Ware is certainly serviceable and viable with a pay cut. Those two other mothers half no leverage and little talent.

Clean house, save cash, spend wisely in FA.
