7 of that was gifted by a turnover that gave them the ball 14yds away.

This is nothing different from when Chip was at Oregon. Offense looks great against weak opponents. But can be shut down by quality opponents. And at times, made to look silly.

And how many of their yards came from YAC from just terrible missed tackles? Carr took a horrible play at the ball and let Maclin go 70yds up the field. Twice.

There is nothing special about this offense. No idea why so many are in awe of it.

Miss tackles are results of exploiting other team's weak defensive players and fatigue. Part of the game and plan. You can use that same argument if you are an Eagles fan (TO's and breaking tackles or bad coverage). Sometimes those are forced because other team is good too.

I think it's pretty impressive what Chip has done over the past two years with no name QB's. Will it last? I don't know. But if it has a good QB then system maybe even more impressive.

I agree to a certain extent. They then started to throw a bit on 1st down and got some nice plays and then went back to the run and Murray got a few good runs. We really need to throw a little more with Romo under center. I think they may be a little worried about Tony's mobility getting back and not getting sacked.

Yeah this was one of those games where they needed to rely on Romo more. Eagirls to their credit have a solid defensive line. They did their job. But in the passing game.....we won that battle. When we went to a 4 receiver set....the Eagirls look pathetic.

Our coaching staff really blew it at the end of the first half trying to go deep with Dez on 3rd and 1. That was when we needed a couple of first downs and a FG or TD to end the half but instead we have to punt and give them the ball back. That was a big blunder. That had me mad for a long while! That would have been another 3-4 minutes of possesion right there!

There were numerous times that game where they couldn't get 3rd and 1. The run game was getting shut down.

Sorry but a simple out route for 9 yards that results in 60 yards because a DB just stupidly leaves his feet and dives is not the result of good offense. Just terrible terrible defense.

Again, the Eagles have did zero against quality teams under Chip Kelly. That's what Chip Kelly is about with this offense ever since Oregon.

It does not matter. Given the time and situation a run was the right play call. And I think it was later in the game that they could not get a 3rd and 1 - only happened once!

Yeah, but why go for it all in that situation? No reason to give them the ball back. Get the first down. Keep the ball. Run the clock.

I think, as Sturm noted, they liked to stay in their base defense. They were so damned freaked out about not letting Murray get to 100, they wanted to keep the front seven heavy...Cox and Logan (especially) were stout and disruptive. I think it was pretty evident that Linehan would come out throwing but it was a bit much going 5 wide. As the game got late, Murray was being kept in to block but I certainly agree that the propensity for running on first down was a drag on the offense. The Eagles played to stifle Murray and make Romo beat them with his arm...thankfully, he did. His 3 TD games are becoming almost pedestrian, if not down-right predictable (when healthy). To be within a breath of Rodgers on passer rating is equally stunning.

It's not a gimmick. But it has absolutely no fall back for lack of performance. You're not even burning a minute or two by running the ball. Its basically 75 seconds and punt if you go 3 and out.

Basically its a very basic offense that if you keep it in front of you and don't miss tackles a lot you have a pretty good chance to stop it. Now they have a very good line and RB and some decent talent at the receivers which can make it hard to stop.

It is absolutely a gimmick.

It’s completely hypocritical in an age of player safety concerns as well. The style of play is designed to get more plays in a game, which means more hits in a game, and more hits in a season. Also, as player fatigue sets in, poor form is often the result, which leads to more injury. If I was a professional player, I wouldn’t want to play in that style.

Me thinks Washington is going to lay down on Saturday. They need a high pick for a QB, and Danny-boy dislikes Dallas tremendously. Perhaps an extra x-mas bonus for all who tackle poorly on Saturday.

Apparently Eagle fans say their offense has been figured out. They say all you have to do is fake an injury to slow down their momentum...

I think I heard somebody call it a gimmick last week.....

It's a myth that up-tempo offense means Philadelphia runs more plays than their opponents. What it means is that because they run plays fast, they leave more time on the clock for plays to be run. Unless they move the ball and prevent the opposing team from doing likewise, though, all they accomplish is creating more time for their opponent to score.

We ran 76 plays Sunday. They ran 53.

I'm beginning to think that the advantage of preventing defenses from substituting is shrinking too as defensive coaches adjust. Multiple times last night Philly substituted on offense and our defense didn't.

Whose defense was sucking wind at the end the end of the game, anyway?

Doesn't matter how he got the 60 yards. We don't complain when the other team have a blown coverage or a miss tackle. You just make plays or you don't. That's football. Why does Patriots win regularly? Well coached and don't beat yourselves. That's a HUGE part of this game. In the past Cowboys routinely beat themselves but not this year.

Again, if Eagles has a real QB to run the offense we may see it differently. I reserve judgement about his "Gimmick offense" till then.

We had a back up and laid an egg. They are playing a back up and have done reasonably well. We would probably complain and whine like a ***** if we were playing backup and lost to Eagles. Don't even say Sanchez is better than Weedon....We could have sign Sanchez if we wanted to. We chose our back up so we get to live with it.

I think the offensive philosophy is sound, but it has no counterpunch. If it isn't successful, they don't have something else to fall back on.

The counter punch last year was DeSean Jackson. Why they booted him I have no idea.

That said, Sanzhez wouldn't be able to consistently hit him deep anyway. As other have said, I don't think you can fairly judge this system until he gets a QB.

Except Sanchez is not a true backup to Foles. They have the same exact talent. You can't even begin to compare to drop off from Romo to Weeden compared to Foles to Sanchez.

And sorry, this is the best you will ever see this offense. No "real QB" is going to make it that much better. If you watched it in college you would see that. This offense will never be able to put quality teams or when the big games. Never did it at Oregon. Won't do it here.

Their offense is a gimmick and will always be one. You can keep reserving judgement all you want. It is what it is at the moment.

I really doubt the Cowboys wanted Scandrick to miss 3 plays to stop their momentum though. Really doubt he was faking.

I especially liked that Collinsworth didn't have anything to say through most of the broadcast.

He didn't come alive until the Eagles took the lead, and then went semi dormant following the Boys putting up added points to make it a 2 score game...

I find this funny. All last year and much of this year, people were slobbing over this offense. And over Foles in particular. Oh but now that it's in year 2 and has been exposed, now it's because they don't have a QB. Nice built in convenient excuse. I thought Chip Kelly's system was so masterful and genius that he could make any QB into a fine oiled machine? I love when people have to backpedal and make excuses.

The sooner you realize this offensive philosophy, no matter the QB will ever win anything, the sooner you can quit worrying about the Eagles as a threat.

People knee jerk way too much over these things. And so ready to label Chip Kelly as some offensive genius.
