The Cowboys will show us what they believe is his time table with how they handle his contract situation. As fans, we're at their mercy.
So true

I was not defending Dak. Simply stating there were a few other plays that contributed. The game in SF was lost the moment Pollard went down. Dak Prescott isn't a net benefit to the offense and in that game he was a net handicap for the offense. I'm not even sure how many of these games they need to play to realize that the guy is simply not a benefit in a game against one of the better teams. Now a lot of folks will claim that all QB's have bad games or good defenses stifle even the best QB's. Not arguing that, however there is a difference between being someone who plays neutral vs someone whose play hurts the team and when it comes to Dak Prescott vs the better defenses and teams, his play simply hurts the team. That game against SF would have been a win had it not been for those turnovers, had it been for a reasonable amount of ball control and moving the ball. Towards the end of the game the offense couldn't even move the ball with any competence. Now part of that is on Kellen Moore and he is gone. But Kellen Moore calls the plays and it's up to the players to execute - they failed to execute and a lot of that is on Dak.
It's Fish but still shows how this is brewing on the back burner

Dak Prescott Next Cowboys Contract: $351 Million - Highest-Paid NFL Player Ever?
Dak Prescott is presently a "$40 million APY'' player ... who is likely to soon be a "$50 million APY'' player - which could make the Cowboys QB the NFL's highest-paid player ... ever.

Oh by all means be happy, just don't run out claiming that this is it, he has turned the corner, seen the light or whatever other cliche sports terms you want to trot out. He has proven that he will light up a bad team, but that same dude will light up his own team against the average to better teams. So this season, NOBODY should be happy when we play a lower tier team and he lights them up in the stat book
Neither of those things would have mattered. The offense at that point had gone entirely comatose. Both of those events would mean that the offense needed to march the ball down the field.Diggs dropped INT and his non hit on Kittle.

To be honest, it appears they asking him to do less but be more efficient. So his numbers could be way down but if we win, he's getting the bulk of the credit. That's just the way the position goes.SO BASICALLY DAK WILL HAVE 75 TOUCHDOWNS, 9,532 PASSING YARDS, AND 3 INTERCEPTIONS,
Don't bet against it. however it could, and should be back loaded. To be able to get out of it with minimal cap hit. So let Dak "bet on himself" to EARN the full contract. How does the contract go to 300 million, are we going to sign him for 6 years at 50 million sheesh
It's Fish........take it with a grain of salt (lol)How does the contract go to 300 million, are we going to sign him for 6 years at 50 million sheesh

Probably, but we seen comatose offenses before get inspired from a big play on defense.Neither of those things would have mattered. The offense at that point had gone entirely comatose. Both of those events would mean that the offense needed to march the ball down the field.
Hell, just read someone on Twitter suggested Herbert could be the first NFL QB to sign a $500M contract.........so no question the numbers are going up.Don't bet against it. however it could, and should be back loaded. To be able to get out of it with minimal cap hit. So let Dak "bet on himself" to EARN the full contract.
However the way contracts are going, too much of that $300 mil will be guaranteed. Therefore, still costing too much.
Do it this year, or move on. But they won't.
You're the general manager of this team, Dak has been here for several seasons. Knowing this and all the resources you've given him, what's the time frame that he has to go deep into the playoffs or win a championship??
Do you feel that the cowboys have a time frame on Dak being that he's been here this long. Please keep this appropriate!!!! Give your thoughts please....

Well what did the GMs of Peyton Manning, Drew Brees and Matt Stafford say when it took them all years into their careers to win a Superbowl??
Hell it took Stafford 11, 12 years to win a playoff game.
Now before all the excuses and and goal post moving for other quarterbacks begin, remember when Dak is the topic of conversation, there were many here that said "good quarterbacks elevate the talent around them"....
So that goes for all other quarterbacks as well.
With that said, I believe this is Dak's last season to help lead us to the championship game at least. If not, start searching other answers at the quarterback position moving forward the following season.
It's not highest paid vs highest stats. It's consistently winning and getting your team deep in the playoffs. At the end of the day, stats mean very little if you can't win when it counts the most ( see Tony Romo vs Tom Brady or Drew Brees )Then ok we break those numbers I had there down in my sarcastic manner lol and make them lower, does this justify him being the highest paid QB without the highest stats he's used to having. Very good point you brought up
I like how you are stirring the drink with good posts this offseason. Keep up the good work. I was a big Dak supporter and still am to a certain extent. I think he is a good man, hard worker, good teammate, and a good but not great QB. Unlike some of the wall bangers here I root for Dak because we need the guy to succeed. The reality is he has 2 years left on his deal. That's his window. He has done a lot in the league but has failed in the big spots. You can't pay a guy $40-50MM that is not getting the job done in the playoffs. Let the morons in AZ and Cleveland do that. Dallas needs to be better. Hence, he has 2 years to show he deserves another deal. There should be no talk of an extension. Furthermore, Dallas should be drafting QBs this year and next to give themselves a shot at developing someone to take over. You're the general manager of this team, Dak has been here for several seasons. This could get ugly.........but I agree. If he can't run MM's new offense and still has turnover issues......it's time. With that said, I believe this is Dak's last season to help lead us to the championship game at least.
