Duncan struggles from the free-throw line, of course, but his 18-20 foot jumper is a thing of beauty. He never shoots threes because that isn't his role on the team.

That is an excellent point, and why I would be more shocked if Shaq did it.

:laugh2:

I was more surprised that between Parker, Ginobili, Bowen, Horry, or Barry, who are all pretty good shooters from downtown, it was Duncan taking that shot. But he was extremely wide open.

haha, well if he is taking threes you know its not going well!

Sorry dude, but he didnt make any threes against the Lakers in the playoffs.

He was 0-1.

oh ok, i just remember him taking some threes in game six of that series because hedo didnt do jack s**t. I thought he took two though, maybe one of them was not quite a three, but he did take a lot of long jumpers towards the end, he looked really frustrated with the team that year. i remember stephen jackson saying "i wish i was still there i could have hit those open threes", too bad he took less money to play for the hawks! and the spurs didnt want him back after that season for some reason:(

I wish we would have given Hedo another year...........players always struggle in their 1st year with Pop....his system is difficult to grasp, and it is easy to get into his doghouse, but extremely difficult to get out.

I think the main reason he wouldnt have fit here is cause defense is not is strong suit.

ya, he might have turned out just as good as he is now, if not better. But the spurs didnt want to spend too much money on him that year, they actually did offer him a contract, but he took a little bit more money that year from orlando if im not mistaken. But with that money we resigned tony and manu(who almost signed with denver that year :ralph:)

Even though he's a knucklehead, Steven Jackson is the one I wish we wouldn't have let get away.

While it would have been hard to keep them all under contract, we let SJax and Hedo slip away as free agents. We drafted Barbosa but gave him to the Suns for basically nothing... same thing with Scola and the Rockets. And then we just missed drafting Josh Howard.

Oh well, if some of the young guys like Splitter and Mahinmi develop into solid pros, all will be forgiven. :)

yup, for all our genious moves we have had our share of missed opportunities with players like scola, but barbosa wouldnt fit in our team, but i wish we would have given him to the bucks or something.

we tried to sign jackson after 03, but he thought he could get more money so he held out. He realized he couldnt get more money anywhere else and he tried to come back but the spurs i guess got their feelings hurt and didnt want him back anymore, so he signed for a lot less money with the hawks than the spurs originally offered him. If he wouldnt have been a bonehead and been loyal he would probably still be with the spurs as an allstar

Also, "clutch" is hitting your free throws when you have the National Championship game all but sewn up. (Sorry, too soon?)

Tim Duncan definately should have been called for a traveling violation on that play. He clearly caught the ball and then took two short steps to align his feet before the shot. I challenge anyone to look at the play again and call me out on this. But i will say that this is the N.B.A. and that traveling hardly ever gets called. (especially in a situation like this) Either way it was a GREAT CLUTCH shot. This series is going to be awesome!

By the way i am neither a suns or a spurs fan. I am a Maverick fan

No he did not

He lifted his right heel a little with his toes still on the floor. He did not have the ball when he moved. You are wrong.

Its right there for anyone to see. Its not even close to traveling.

First, even if he did do that, there's no way that would be called in a million years on any player.

Second, you're wrong. He sets his left foot as he's catching the ball. It's near simultaneous. The only step he takes clearly after he's caught the ball is the one with his right foot, which is allowed.

Check out the rule, he's clearly within the "two count" allowance.

Section XIV-Traveling
a. A player who receives the ball while standing still may pivot, using either foot as the pivot foot.
b. A player who receives the ball while he is progressing or upon completion of a dribble, may use a two-count rhythm in coming to a stop, passing or shooting the ball.
The first count occurs:
(1) As he receives the ball, if either foot is touching the floor at the time he receives it.
(2) As the foot touches the floor, or as both feet touch the floor simultane- ously after he receives the ball, if both feet are off the floor when he receives it.
The second occurs:
(1) After the count of one when either foot touches the floor, or both feet touch the floor simultaneously.

Wow.....someone is on the defense

The video you posted a link to is way to blurry to say that "it is right there for anyone to see"

I was watching the game at a friends house who has like a 50" plasma, we were watching in HD and at first I was arguing with him.

The first time we watched the replay he said "did you see that...he walked"

I didnt think he did, so we rewinded the DVR and after i watched it in slow motion a few times I was convinved it was a travel. It was definately questionable

Like i said either way, It was one hell of a shot. And I am glad that they didnt call him for traveling. That would have been weak.

Wasnt trying to rain on your parade.

Not at all ...... but there is a bitter Mavs fan who is trying to stir a bunch of bull.

The video I linked clearly shows it IN SLOW MOTION .... he was done moving before Manu passed him the ball.

But keep trying to sell us this "50 inch plasma so I saw the play better" story ...... its not gonna work.

its questionable whether he took the first step before he caught and had possession of the ball, and if he did its still allowed, as danny just stated directly from the rule book. the fact that you would bring that up just screams that your bitter that your team doesnt win anything and our team does.

no it doesnt, you should have seen the big mexican cholo that almost beat the crap out of these three mavs fans at game five of the 2006 playoffs, it was awesome! these three guys, probably in their mid twentys were talking smack to a lady, decked out in spurs gear, that was no younger than 65. the mexican guy saw this, went right up to them, smacked one in the face, they all sat down, said something to them, and they didnt say a peep after that!
