I know this is from out of left field but it seems to me that the offense has really been dumbed down the last few weeks even outside of the great defenses we've played. The playcalling has been very vanilla and it seems to me that as we get closer to the playoffs the more predictable our offense has been. Is it possible that Jerry has given the order to make the situation favorable to force Romo's return? I like Romo as much as anyone but this seems unfair to me. I could be wrong but tell me the offense has been the same as before we clinched the playoffs... Sorry but I'm wearing my tinfoil hat. :D

I don't think it has. Dallas put up 31 on Washington. They faced a tough Vikes defense in Minn and had a ton of penalties. This past game they just played poorly. It still takes execution and stringing plays together and they have not done that very well over the last 2 games.

It's been pretty predictable all year but we have thrown in more wrinkles this year than probably the last 5 years combined.

They need to get better on 3rd downs. That's the difference the past few weeks and we need more explosive runs of 10+ yards IMO.

Defenses will press and blitz us. It's gave Romo all kinds of fits in the past so you can bet it will confuse a rookie.

Our coaches have got to give Dak easy answers to the press and blitz question.

I don't have a clue what is going on. All I know is this week will tell me all I need to know.

It will not.

All that matters is winning in the playoffs and you won't know that until the playoffs.

I don't know what's going on, but the offensive playcalling and some decisions have been bizarre the last two weeks, and it needs to stop.

Football is a business and not only that, a business of winning. There is no way a football team would sacrifice a game, against a division opponent, for any reason. We assume the play calling is vanilla because Dak hasn't been completing the passes the last few games that he did earlier this year. That does not mean the more creative or "non-vanilla" plays were not called, as they likely were but the team (not just Dak) did not execute them for whatever reason.

The play call on the Cowboys first touchdown was very creative and I would say that even if the Giants had not screw up their coverage and left Williams wide-open. It may have been Dak being overly protective of the football, or it may have been he locked on to Dez too much, or it is possible that the offensive game plan was to focus on one or two specific receivers on many plays. There are a lot of unknowns that we as fans are left guessing (or assuming) and using those guesses to define the reason for the loss and how to "easily" fix it.

If that were even close to remotely true, that signifies bigger problems than who is QB.

If Jones can affect the game plan and play calling to his liking to set up a preferred outcome, that's a HUGE problem.

Maybe we are saving the real stuff for the playoffs?
That's been my "conspiracy" theory. We're going vanilla until the playoffs, then we'll unleash a dynamic passing attack featuring Zeke out of the backfield. He's an elite receiver that can cause match up problems if used correctly. Haven't seen it yet... except for in Pitts. Don't think it's actually going to happen, but I can't explain the lack of originality in our play-calling.

I thought that the one TD play that they had vs NY was a very clever play. Executed well too.
Fake toss sweep with multiple tiered routes over the middle.

It may be why they thought they could pull off the actual toss sweep late the game under similar distance (2nd and 10 vs 3rd and 11)

The Giants did what the Vikings did to us on 3rd downs. And were more successful. Also play calling changed too much, and they got away from the run.
something they normally would have stayed with, they did not. So also on the coaches.

The team will make those adjustment, find out what those 2 defenses did, and come up with a game plan to fix those issues.
The Vikings found something that worked, NY copied it, and TB will try the same thing. Now it is up to the Dallas coaches and players to fix that.
