Calling a running play on 3rd and 7 late in the fourth quarter to kick a field goal when your defense hasn't stopped Peyton all half? He was playing not to lose. He stands there like a zombie displaying no fire or emotion. Even his clothes are boring and predictable. A loss is one thing, but this was embarassing. The largest lead surrendered in conference championship history.

Face it ... Belichick is never winning a Superbowl without Parcells' players. No McGinnest. No Vinieteri. No Ty Law. No Ted Johnson. No Championships.

So fire Bill and go get Belichick --we should win three or 4 super bowls until we run out of Parcells players:D

IMO, the whole Parcells-can't-win-without-Belichick argument is pointless. If BB was the "mastermind", it was Parcells that hired him and gave him the leeway to run the defense the way he did. On the other hand, Parcells always got the most out of his offenses, offenses that never really had a spectacular player.

It's the Parcells of today I have a problem with. Fundamental breakdowns with the players, late season collapses, horrible coaching decsions. Look back at the numerous times the Cowboys have mismanaged the clock in the last few years. Look at the stupid penalties. Look at mistakes like the erroneous red flag, challenging plays we have no chance to overturn, etc. Parcells' teams the last 3 years have been a clinic in how not to handle the basics. And if fundamentals don't go back to coaching what does? Even if you blame the players, who brought all but 3 of those players here? Same for the assistants.

This is Parcells' team. It's his failure. It's the inescapable conclusion for any but the most ignorant.

But has BB ever won a Super Bowl without Viniteri? :laugh2:

If the Colts win it all, he'll be the lucky charm. :D
he's the most MONEY KICKER in NFL history.

Mumbles would have a super bowl loss or two without him, that is pretty much a certainty.

No offense, but if you're truly a fan of the Cowboys, why would you care?

Belichik is a great coach, but his decision to hand the ball to Heath Evans on 3rd and 7 instead of letting one of the greatest QBs of all-time take a shot to get the first down and possibly move in for a TD, was one of THE WORST decisions in playoff history in my view and I said it at the time he handed the ball to Evans.

Belechik played for a FG to take the lead when his defense had been surrenduring yardage and points in waves in the 2nd half. I wondered if that conservative decision would come back to haunt him and sure enough it did.

I don't care if it was Bill Belichik who made the decision, it was classic Bill Parcells and the Pats lost by 4 points. Why he didn't allow Brady to try and throw for the first down is beyond me!

All I know is, that if our safeties and LB's got beat in the center of the field as much as NE did, this board would be roasting Roy Williams like a marshmellow on a campfire, and roasting BP for schemes the same way.

Dungy did exactly the same thing at the 4 min mark (or so) when they could have gone up by 4 with a touchdown and put pressue on the patriots but instead of putting the ball in the hands of Peyton to win it with a 7 yard pass they ran the ball and got 4 yards and had to tie the game with a field goal. That gave the pats the chance to come back and put the colts in the position to have to win in the last min.

You can second guess anybody. But in the heat of the game, Bill B makes great calls again and again and I could only wish that Romo is able to be the cool collected man that Brady is under pressure. I hate NE becuase I live there for a couple of years and all I heard was how much of a brain that Bill B was. I was rooting for the colts all day yesterday and I'm happy today. But you can't say that was a bad effort by the team or coaching job by Bil B.

Except when we had 3rd and 7 inside the 10 yard line in the Seattle game, Parcells let Romo throw it to Witten and missed the first by inches. That was with his undrafted first year starter, not multiple SB-MVP QB.

Other than that, great point.
