And that second one will be a wasted pick just like Michael Jackson was last year. We have struggled with evaluating DB talent for years. We even trade the ones that can play for backup guards. Sign a proven free agent first and then let the draft come to you instead of forcing a pick.

This. I don’t trust our FO to find Jones replacement in the draft. Pick up a guy like Logan Ryan or an experienced vet. Draft somebody and hope they pan out

He wont be back. How we replace him is still in flux, but we will replace him. no doubt there at all.

No one in the draft that we can grab will replace his skills. We are going to have to just downgrade at the position. I think we can upgrade via FA and Draft in the DL/Safety position to make up for it.

Westry was not even a full-time starter in college, kept going in and out. I don't expect much. Wilson might have more of a shot with his new Aggie DB coach who should know him well.

I wouldn't draft a guy high. With Lewis and Awuzie I feel like we should be fine if we can get a consistent pass rush. I need that 1st round pick to be a starter.

If they let Jones walk, they will use that 1st on a CB. Probably Diggs (AL), Henderson (FL) or Fulton (LSU).

Remember, they also have Brown up as well. They could go heavy secondary in this draft like they did when they took Lewis, Awuzie and Woods. McC likes secondary guys.

I think they need to overhaul it, even though the bulk of it has been Xavier and awuzie/Jordan group in recent draft classes. But frankly that's not looking too promising and those guys may have topped out as potential.
Decent at best but not difference makers enough.
And cannot be satisfied with status quo.
Ditto for DL issues too. Cant stay frustrated with the taco, Irving, hardy and hill setbacks, we have to keep pushing to better at each unit.

Agreed. I don’t think the regime change will matter with these guys. We need change. Defense was our biggest issue last year. Marinelli is old and out of touch.

I keep coming back to Alabama cornerback Trevon Diggs. Not a lot of experience but showing great early potential for the position and traits and ability for continued growth. And the comparisons to Darius Slay don't hurt my opinion either.
