I did too! I don’t fall for one guy much in drafts but I think it was the Senior Bowl snd EVERY report that week was how Donald was unblockable and was tearing it up. I remember that draft thinking “we have to get this guy.”

Zach Martin when he retires might possibly be the third interior offensive lineman to make first ballot Hall of Fame in a 40-year span........

Let's not pretend like Martin isn't a generational type player as well. He's been in the NFL six years and has made all pro all six years, was the first rookie offensive lineman since 1947 to make first team all pro.....

Zach is a stud no doubt, but he’s no Larry Allen. Larry was picked in the second round. I have no qualms with Zach. We didn’t pass on Donald, he was just picked before us. I haven’t wanted a player that bad since Moss. He proved me right. He’s arguably the best defensive player in football. It was a dream and I’m right there with Jerry.

maybe a better comparison will be Tyrone Smith vs JJ Watt. - and we chose Tyrone over JJ Watt. But both likely to be HOF candidates

If Tyron deserves it than Flozell does as well. Only missed 4 games in his career and was a stud. Yes a false start machine but so is Tyron.

Donald and Martin are going to be HOF. You couldn't go wrong with either. Donald is more flashy due to the sack numbers, but Martin is just a monster guard. Great players and I'm glad we ended up with Martin.

I disagree. Reports are Dallas has wanted Donald, Vea and Ed Oliver........ the real issue is they haven't traded up to get those guys when they had a chance but didn't mind going up and getting Claiborne

It's a myth and one you are perpetuating. Smith is disciplined and you're downplaying his greatness with something that simply does not happen. "False start machine" even though he's never ranked anywhere close to the top for starting lineman or offensive players in general lol

Every draft there are 15-20 guys with “1st Rd” grades.. essentially, there are 15-20 players that you’d like on your team for sure. The fact that Donald AND Martin was one of these guys.. means something.

Most of the posters here really make something out nothing...

Jerry basically paying his respects to a generational talent.. and just FYI, I’d love to have him also. As much as I love Martin on our team.. If I could redo the draft. I’d take Aaron Donald every time.

Agreed. LOL at first team all-decade Smith is the same as freaking Flozell adams (not to diss Flozell he was a great franchise player but he's not in the same sentence as Tyron whose the 2nd best tackle of the last 10 years.......)
