TNew says lots of blame to go around

Because you don't agree doesn't mean you actually understand what you were watching .

Newman was a liability here for the last 3-4 years , beaten rountinely by the other teams Ace WR - an beaten badly.

He was paid to shutdown the others teams top guy an rarely did that ever happen. He also was a terrible tackler .

He had a few decent at best early years but he never panned out in comparison to where he was picked.

Drafted as a 25 year old.

You're quite simply wrong.

No I'm not - if I was he'd still be a Cowboy and of I was he wouldn't have been on the verge of being cut last year if Asomogah had been sealed .

Newman along with Roy Williams 1&2 , Ken Hamlin, AHenry, James, Brooking etcetc are some of the worst paid nfl'ers I've seen : let alone Cowboys.

People who wanna wax poetic about T New most likely never saw our heyday .

Something else to consider, regardless of whether you think he was solely to blame or not, is that he is currently looking for work. He already admitted that he didn't play all that well, so he is taking some of the blame. Do you really expect him to say publicly that he absolutely sucks and he is no good?

People are making such a big deal out of what he said.

Newman was once a very very good player for us...he just started to decline, like most players start to around his age.

That's the only reason i was ready to cut ties...love the guy, but his skill was diminishing

The quality of thought in this post is frightening. Especially when there's enough material to criticize fairly.

Has any team brought Newman in yet? Just curious.

Wasn't he linked to the Bengals? If he plays anywhere, he's got to be a 600 snap/year player for somebody. At his age, that's pretty much the definition of a progress stopper. Somebody will bring him in after the draft if they're still exposed at CB and don't have a project worth developing there for a season. I think he can still play well in that capacity, but there's a hard limit on how many snaps his old legs can take.

Ryan blitzed way too much and left our suspect secondary exposed too much.

Garrett made some really boneheaded decisions as well.

This is what scares me. We can update talent all day long but in the end if the coaches make poor decisions we are hosed once again.

Last year it just seemed that no matter how good we played or how big of a lead we had, we would find a way to screw it up.

And like I said, .. that scares me.

His last two games against the Giants was the final straw for me.

Dropped a walk in pick 6 interception, got burnt routinely by whomever he was covering, and on both of the Giants final drives against us in Dallas - Eli looked his way almost every single time.

Teams were isolating him, found his weaknesses in film, and exploited them as the season went on. Kevin Gilbride laid the blueprint on how to kill Newman, throw a variety of routes at him then he'll just start to back up and try not to get burnt deep but routinely giving up everything short.

Was a shame, he used to be athletic enough to compensate for his ball skills, but he was always battling some injury his entire career, and now he's seemed to have completely lost step. Remember we drafted him when he was already like 26 or something.

But the good news is, our FO knew he was done - that's why we went after Nnamdi and he was asking Campo if his job was safe. So at least we knew he would be a problem before the season started.

He had a harder time in both Philly games than he did in the first NY game.

He got *roasted* in the game in NY. In Dallas, he did drop the pick-6, and he did give up a key 4th down conversion at the end of the game, but he played well in that game, overall. We blew 3 TDs b/c of our safety play in that game, and Ware gave Eli new life by his famous off-sides play. On Newman's part, the dropped pick-6 was still a good read.
