I was thinking that, myself. They wouldn't do it to "screw him", but they have a ton of cap space, they may just pay him his bonus to give them more time to trade him.

Either way I couldn't imagine them waiting til the very last second. Thats just ridiculous. Shows something about their franchise if they do.

On a different note, what does the relative silence of Rosenhaus over the past couple weeks say about all this? I would have thought that he would be hogging every camera he could find right now. Maybe this means there's a deal thats already been struck and being low key is part of that deal.

a team may have already told the Eagles they will trade for him if they (new team) doesnt have to pay the bonus...

I think you misunderstand what their motivation might be...its a longshot, but I heard it discussed on the radio with someone (I think from TSN)

the motivation for the Eagles to PAY the 5 million would be that perhaps a team (Chiefs, Broncos perhaps) have told the Eagles "yeah we want him, we'll give you something (say a 3rd rd pick, maybe a 2nd) but we dont want to tarde for his current contract...if you eat the bonus, we will make the deal"

that way the Eagles 1) get something for him and 2) he cant go to Dallas

its all specualtion, but it is a possibility
