To Everyone In Irene's Path

Still no power here for us yet. Lots of down trees and power lines on the roads around our house. In our subdivision, seems like every house has a huge tree down.

Hopefully we'll have power soon, because we're on a well, so no water yet either.

Yuk.

We still have no power though we do have water. We actually stayed in the city last night. Three days without power was enough. Besides, I know the water heater is cold now too and I wanted a hot shower this morning!

We actually got power back last night at 11:30, hallelujah!

We are already under contract with an electrician for a generator to be installed, which should be done on Wednesday. Then we just need to wait for the propane people to get their permits and bring a second tank over. We have one now for our fireplace, but the electrician suggested a second tank for extended outages.

Once that gets installed, we'll be good to go for any further outages.

No Internet back yet, though. I'm so happy we switched to DirecTV a few weeks ago, because Comcast has widespread outages around us. I see their trucks driving around, but there are still trees on lines all over the place. Since we have power and phone (Verizon) I can only assume that the lines are the cable lines.

I checked Connecticut Light and Power's website. They said we got our service back at 4:40am this morning. Wife confirmed when she got home.

Great news for you guys...

I think that was the biggest issue for those down here after Hurricane Ike. People were without power for weeks. That and water. I think the power was off at my house for about 7 days. I evac'd, so I can only go by what my neighbors told me. They were telling those who evac'd to stay gone after the hurricane passed... lol
