TO: How is Lynch in the HOF over Woodson?

Woodson did all the heavy lifting in coverage which is what bit him on the *** in the end. Remember Parcell's "biscuit away from a LB" quip? Parcells wasn't kidding, his weight was an issue.
His weight was never an issue. Seriously, where'd you get that from? Inaccurate.

Woody covered like a CB and hit like a LB. Top 10-15 all time S. Freaky good.

I disagree. Box safeties who didn’t play coverage well took a hit when the league went away from running and started passing.

But even if he was a biscuit away what are blaming Woody for not keeping him in shape?
That's not what Tuna was saying. He was simply referring to Woodson's size. Woody was always in shape.

Woody certainly seems worthy but there is absolutely no reason for TO or anyone else to disparage Lynch while making the argument.

He was also a hell of a player and has been wildly successful in football after hanging up the cleats.

Hall of Fame wideout Terrell Owens can't believe former NFL safety Darren Woodson hasn't yet been enshrined in Canton.

"I'm thinking about a guy like Darren Woodson that's not in the Hall of Fame, but John Lynch is," Owens said to Hall of Fame receiver Andre Reed on Fubo Sports' Getcha Popcorn Ready (h/t Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk). "How in the hell do you quantify that?"

“When I got with the Niners, like I said, I didn’t know anything about no rivalry with the Cowboys and the Niners, I knew nothing about that,” Owens told Reed. “But when it comes to the game plan [it was about where is Woodson]? Granted John Lynch did some great things here and there, but I’m not looking for John [on the field]. I wasn’t. But when I played from my rookie year on, and I played against the Cowboys, I had to identify [where Woodson was]. Just because a guy starts on a defense and he is the No. 1 guy back there in the secondary for that defense, for me overall in totality, that doesn’t mean he’s impacting what I’m going to be doing. Yeah, he has to be accounted for that day because you’re game planning, but I wasn’t scared of No. 47 (Lynch]. And when I was with the Eagles and he was with Denver at the time [shrugs].”

Love Woodson. He was great in coverage and run support, but the fact is that he didnt make a lot of big plays. Not known for jarring hits, fumbles and interceptions. Lynch was a head hunter out there on one of the best defenses in NFL history.

Lynch had more sacks, INT’s and forced fumbles than Woodson. Plus he played for one of the top 10 great greatest defenses in NFL history the 2002 Bucs.
Lynch also started 29 more games and appeared in 46 more total. Lynch's stats aren't that much better to reflect that difference.

Both are deserving, so I don't have a problem with Lynch being in, even if before Woodson. Not that I think Lynch is better, but it's okay if not everyone sees it exactly as I do.

The mild problem I have is that Woodson was retired longer, so his name probably should have come up first. Still, as long as he ends up getting in I will be fine, Obviously that remains to be seen

Easy, Lynch was a star on his team to the public. He and Sapp and Brooks and maybe Barber were the names on the team.
Even bold, cocksure WR Keyshawn Johnson was overshadowed somewhat by the Buccaneers' defensive quartet.

Converesly, Woodson was overshadowed nationally by his teammates during the first half of his stellar career -"The Triplets", Haley, Sanders -
even though he made the NFL All-Rookie Team, and was NFL 1st Team All-Pro for three consecutive seasons.
However, he continued his outstanding play as the other Cowboys stars faded or left the team.

I do think "Woody" will get the honor during the next three years.

Lynch was a key cog for one of the all-time great defenses. Donnie Shell was the last player to be inducted in the Hall of Fame from the Steel Curtain defense. That was just a few years ago. Most felt he wouldn’t have been inducted into the Hall of Fame had he not been part of those defenses.

The obvious answer is because the league hates the Cowboys.
The league is innocent in the case of Hall inductions. On the other hand, media individuals, dictating who gets in and who does not from their Board of Selectors' pulpits, are guilty. And I would agree some of their decision-making is more emotional based than unbiased.

I stand corrected. I agree with that observation.

Don't forget that Lynch played in 224 games compared to Woodson's 178. But yes, both belong in.
