Offensive coordinators have to give him touchdowns to feed his ego so he won't throw a tantrum. Under a true team concept he wouldn't fair nearly as well. You could easily give Witten 2 or 3 of his touchdowns as an example.

T.O. is not close to being the best receiver to wear a star. Dallas did not get the same T.O. from 5 years ago or even 2 years ago. In just one season he has done some good things, but not near enough to be a better Dallas Cowboys receiver than Tony Hill, Drew Pearson, Michael Irvin or Bob Hayes. Those guys did great things as Cowboys.

As far as his entire career, I would rate T.O. high, but not the best ever. There are several that are better. I give Irvin a slight edge over T.O. Mike was not a scorer like T.O., but he did everything else better. T.O. and really no one will touch Rice's records.

Actually, no he's not.

TO's career numbers having played 11 seasons:

801 catches, 11,715 yards, 14.6 average, 114 TDs

Rice's career numbers through his first 11 seasons:

942 catches, 15,123 yards, 16.0 average, 146 TDs

Add to that Jerry played for 10 more seasons after this and TO will never even begin to sniff Rice's records.

801 catches.....Jerry's career 1,549 - half way there in half the time.
114 TD's....Jerry's career 197 - well more than half way there.
11,715 yards.....Jerry's career 22,895 - half way there.

A case for how stats can be manipulated to make any point. I agree with the conclusions of the first case.

Fact is that TO is going to retire while well up the ladder in the Top 10 all time as regards catches, yds, tds. And he has been considered a game changer. NOT just a number guy- which has been the big arguement about Monk. So yes he deserves the HOF.
