To my fellow realists... Are you as encouraged as me?

I actually think that reality is what ends up really happening. I don't know how either side of the coin can call themselves realists, because neither side has any earthly clue how things will turn out.

The homers were saying this team was okay.

The negative posters were saying we were in trouble.

Based on 6-2 and first place in the NFC East right now, aren't the homers more entitled to the title of realists than the negative posters?

I agree. None of us know the outcome of the season. When the Cowboys win I don't proclaim we are SB bound and when we lose I don't bury the team.

This team has 8 games remaining and have been playing very well in all phases of the game Offense, defense and special teams as of late. I think this team has the talent and ability to compete at a high level but they have to go out there and do it.

I'm a fan of the Cowboys I don't pull against 1 player over the other, I want to see all of our guys do well but what I see is some fans pitting player against player and berating the other. Jenkins against Scandrick and then berating the other because it seems more important for some to be right in their assessment than the fact that we have 2 quality players on the roster that can contribute to this teams success.

I see nothing wrong with people calling out a player or coach when mistakes are made but many go well beyond that and rake them over the coals and bury them

Realist? Seems to me many so called realist wrote this team off after week 4 of the season. Now they are encouraged? I guess it depends on which way the wind blows from week to week. I would think a realist understand the NFL season is a 17 week season with a lot of highs and lows around the league and the landscape changes often. Teams like the Giants who got off to a fast start is now on a 4 game losing streak and a team like Dallas who was 500 is currently on a 4 game with streak. Realist? I would say wishy washy fans who turn at the drop of a hat.

I freakin' echo that, bro.

And last year it was the opposite. Many were worried after the Bengals game due to horrible play and it turned out they were right to be.

This year though seems different. They started out slow, and suffered some adversity. But like a TEAM they were able to pull through, and became better off IMO.

Point is over reacting win or lose or trashing guys as soon as they make a mistake. It is like watching jackals’ go after a wounded animal. It just seems to me some are more interested in being right about their own assessment than how the team does. If you win great as long as you do it the way I want it done seems to be the mentality for some.

As I said I have no issue when fans call out a player, if Romo goes out and throws a bad pass and gets picked I see nothing wrong with someone saying it was a stupid move or what was Romo thinking but for some it seems the I told you he sucked and we will never win with him BS take place for the entire week around here.

And then when we win, and Romo plays lights out, they all go back into the wood work.

Funny how that works, eh Dooms?

You know.... I started this thread to share my current opinion on the state of the team we all know and love. I couldn't care less what some previously offended rose colored shade wearing fan thinks. I support the Cowboys the way I prefer to support them. That is from a moderate middle of the road point of view. I will occasionally call a player out and I may embrace another player and the very same moment. If you don't like it I can't help you with your inability to enbrace a different point of view. It really tickles me when i read some of the replies in this thread. The same people that say those with a more reserved point are out in droves when the team loses and scurry back into the dark during a win are doing the very same thing in this thread. A 6-2 record at the midway point is nothing more than a nice record at the midway point. I'm ecstatic and proud of the teamwork exhibited in the first half of the season but let's not go Dennis Green at the midpoint and crown their ***** just yet. Let me repeat once more, those of you that complain of oily cyber chest rubbing by those with moderate points of view are doing the very same thing right now..lol... hypocrisy at its best...

I typed this on my cell phone in the car so scuse any typos.

It's just funny to watch the self-proclaimed 'realists' backpedal. Realistically, we had a good team going into game #1. Anyone who watched that game would have known that. Sure, every team can improve. But if you can't compare our team to others and see that we were a good team from day 1, then it's your own problem that you're now eating crow and realizing you never were a "realist"...and were dead wrong. This team will win the division. Sorry if you feel the need to justify your poor analysis of this team thru your "realist" thread. Admit you were wrong, move on and enjoy the rest of this year.

Just have a feeling, that tonight's gonna be a good good night. I know that we'll have a ball. If you get down and just lose it all. Just take it all. Let's paint the town. We'll shut it down. Let's burn the roof. Here we come, here we go, we gotta rock. Easy come, easy go, we gotta rock. Tonight's gonna be a good, good night. Woo Hoooo.LOL

How many times are you actually going to repeat that drivel? Are you trying to mystically convince someone that it's just? The fact that you're a close minded individual unable to accept the diverse opinions of others sounds like a very personal issue to me. ;)

Since you've crawled out from under your rock, it must be time to celebrate our Super Bowl win after the completion of a stellar season and an even better postseason. Oh wait!

Someone help me figure this one out because there's a hypocritical chest thumping contingent suddenly making noise. Should I be celebration 11-5, 12-4, or 13-3 right now? Should I be celebrating that masterful sixth Super Bowl win at this very moment? Some perspective please soap boxers...lol

Do you know the meaning of just? Basically, it means fair. I'm not trying to convince anyone that anything is fair. Rather, I'm trying to point out the fault in your diction within the title. "Realist", as you've called yourself while being critical of many things concerning Cowboys, is not an appropriate term since the REALITY of our team is we're one of the leagues best. Oh, but you assured us the sky was falling and there was nothing to be encouraged about. Yet now you're "encouraged". Yep, that's it, back on the wagon. Let's put our hands together for Bleu Star and give him a big round of applause for his feelings of encouragement... just after we hand him a tissue for all the crying he did during weeks 1-4.

I'll tell you this much, I'm never under a rock. I'm always here, watching you "realists" "encourage" me to ponder what the real meaning of "realism" is. I gotta tell you, the more you write, the more I see how fictional and unreal some people's world is. The reality is, we will be there competing for a Super Bowl. No one can say we'll win it for sure, but we'll be there. But let's not celebrate yet. Let's just be "encouraged". Because realists love to feel that feeling of encouragement, with all the other fellow realists.

Have the 'realists' been anything other than 'really, really' wrong about any of their takes this year? On cutting TO? On failing to add depth to the WR corps? On Tony Romo? On Jason Garrett's offense? On team unity? On our outlook at the halfway point? About our ability to win big games? On whether or not they're late to the party in *finally* being encouraged by what the team's accomplished?

We had threads two weeks ago where realists were racing each other to jump ship and patting themselves for getting it right by predicting a failed season at the bye. Now they're joining hands, appreciating how much everybody's improved, and taking bows and patting themselves on the back for taking the hard line. The rest of us are very impressed and happy to have you back on the bandwagon. Let's see how many of you manage to stay there after the next loss.

I'd say there's an overall feeling of encouragement amongst the self-proclaimed "realists", which I find rather encouraging myself...being a true realist.

I'll say right now... Some of the stuff you guys are talking about, I have never been a part of. At the same time, I have been burned many times before and refuse to be burned again. Some of us choose to see the world as a kaleidoscope of beautiful colors while others see good, bad, & ugly. I can accept diversity. I can't help those that are too close minded to do the same. Everyone has their opinions regarding the status and direction of this team. If you want to get down to the bare bones... This team hasn't done jack **** in 13 years. Let me repeat once more... This team hasn't done **** since before CowboyMcCoy was born. :) There's some perspective for ya. You must be out of your minds if you think everyone is going to see the roses that you see. The wait & see approach works very well for some of us. Yes. I will agree that some of us do wait for the next loss to pound their individual agendas. I challenge anyone to place me in that boat. I am encouraged by the direction I see this team going but at the same time I remain apprehensive and watchful. This team still has a lot of growing to do. 13 years of underachievement isn't forgotten in 8 weeks.

It's just that: a feeling. Based off of a four game win streak. It's not encouraging since their opinions are based on emotion and not on rationality. But it is refreshing to have them quiet for four weeks in a row. Let's hope we keep winning and everyone stays happy.

Eventually, we'll get back to talking smack about other teams instead of *****ing about our own.

Bleu, I'm chirping here because you addressed your 'fellow realists' which is a group that includes mostly delusional mouthbreathers in my book. I wouldn't lump you necessarily into that category unless you're going to address them all as a pack, but, collectively, they've been a sucky group of fans this entire offseason. They deserve some flak.

As for the current record, we're all aware that we're only half way through the regular season. A single injury could change things dramatically, and we've still got to prove we can compete with good teams in December and beyond. That said, it's pretty hard to argue with our progress to-date. We're a pretty good team that's made a lot of good decisions in the offseason. Our coaches have the offense, defense, and special teams playing well and our QB is playing really, really good football right now. That's about as real as it gets.
