To the Commanders fans saying it will be close because they "always play us tough"...

After reading several Commanders boards, the unanimous opinion is that, despite them being severely inferior in just about every area, the game will be close because they "always play us tough".

As it turns out, since 1998, Dallas is 15-5 against Washington with the average margin of victory for Dallas in those 15 wins being almost 13 PPG. Adding to that, 2 of the 5 wins by Washington were games in which Dallas had nothing at stake. Dallas has 6 wins of at least 16 points in that span.

Forgive me for not seeing how Washington always plays us close.

We're going to win....but it really doesn't matter, because the skins always win the super bowl the year after the giants. I'm just getting warmed up for hockey season...the NFL season is as good as over already.

...or something.

They always seem to play us close when they're not supposed to. That's why people worry about that. I remember a couple of losses to an AWFUL Commanders team in 1995. I know this isn't 1995 but that seems to be what they do. When we're CLEARLY far better they some how find a way to play us tight.

And example would be last year when they came here and played us super tight when we were clearly the better team.

I don't care what the scores were like back in 1998-2004. We had a heck of a string against them at that point, winning 11 straight or something.

Lately, they have either played us close, or blown us out.

I'm as big a Cowboys fan as there is, but I put a $500 bet on the Commanders +11.5 for this coming week.

No way do we beat them by more than 12 points.

Washington isnt very good. They've beaten two average teams at home by a combined total of 12 ponts. They've been giving up huge plays on defense and special teams all year, and Jason Campbell has yet to be asked to go out and win a game for them. They won't be able to run the ball and grind it out against us, Campbell will have to throw the rock 35+ times for them to be competative

Come on now...you know those 1995 losses were all on Aikman. He wanted to let Norv win a couple to help him keep his job.

Jason Campbell won the game for them. They were down in the 4th quarter and he busted off some nice plays. Granted it was Arizona, but the guy has won games form them this year.

That is a crazy bet IMO.

I do not see how last year is relevant to what happens this year, just ask the Dolphins and Patriots if you do not believe me.

Dallas is clearly a much better team.

Does not mean we will cover, but what happed last year is not really relevant.

All I know is that the Cowboys are playing the best football of any team in the NFL right now.

The Skins are middle of the pack and improving, but not on Cowboys level.

We were double digit favorites last year and it came down to the last possesion. 11 pts is way to much for a rivalry game.

Washington's best players are all on offense, and that does not include their QB. Their defense is below grade and an average team can beat that group. So the easiest way for Dallas to beat them is to run the ball down their defense's throut to set up the play-action pass. Lomg, sustained drives with a few big plays mixed in will keep our offense on the field and thirs off of it. If that happens this will be a blowout.

My pick: Cowboys 45, Commanders 9.

This beauty is from a prominent Commanders board:

I was so absolutely annoyed by Dallas' crappy play in their win against GB
I think I might need to double up my blood pressure dose.
(med folks relax... I won't really do it )

HC Jerry Jones and Assistant Wade Phillips have failed to improve that team a drop.
I feel that what we have this year is better than what we beat them with last year.
There's no reason we can't win this one.

It's an easy bet. Money in the bank, as far as I'm concerned.

We're going to win, but it'll be a close game.

Both teams will rely heavily on the run.

The winning team won't get more than 28 points.

Not to mention him throwing the game winning TD to Moss pretty late in the game against the Saints.

Campbell was something like 22/30 for like 250+ yards and 2 TDs yesterday. I'd hardly say he was just managing the game.

Why do the players go on strike after the Giants win?

Good, reasonable prediction there. You should contact your bookie immediately. The line is only 10 so this is easy money!!!

It's always funny to point this out but wasn't it their scabs that beat a lot of our starters that strike year.

LOL. Some of our fans just think we're going to blow everyone out. :)
