Today in Dallas Cowboys History - Dez Caught It!

You've already won the debate, but that guy truly believes that if he just continues to repeat talking points until you give up responding he wins regardless of facts, merit, logic, etc. You might as well argue with a chat bot.
I mean at least the Jesse James play in Pittsburg fits the definition of going to the ground in order to make the catch. Even then though I would argue the same as this person "The rule that "you must survive the ground" only applies if he didnt make a "football move" a knee in the NFL is said to count as 2 feet. He then made the football move or play by extending as his knee hit the ground. The ball then crossed the plane and anything that happens after the play is irrelevant."

They can't seem to understand Dez did not, in any way, go to the ground in order to make the catch.

Only in your mind, Hiroo.

What kind of psycho babble is this? How on earth is me coming late to the party on this thread, after you are completely dug in and fortified, Coming back "again and again".

Now you're just being reactive and emotionally defensive.

Clearly this matters a heck of a lot more to you than it does to me. I'd suggest reflecting on why that is.

There, that's my exit.

Carry on, Hiroo.
Oh you know what I mean, young man. You following me around to threads with your "concern" about what I post. You're a fanboi. Not my oldest, but one nonetheless. So when I say, "see you next time," you can't help but follow suit. And you do. Why can't you let go, Hiroo? Lol.

You didn't come into this thread to discuss anything about the play. Your entry was solely to engage me about me discussing the play. I mean, are you forgetting that? This is what you do. Over and over again. Fanboi behavior.

You following me around to threads with your "concern" about what I post.
Hogwash. This is the second spirited exchange I've had with you in the 13ish years since you joined. Really weak to try and go that route with your "debate".

Must be I got in your head on the first one.

Sounds like you think anyone who engages on a forum designed for engagement is coming after you. How dare we!

So when I say, "see you next time,"
Why would there be a next time? Oh, that's right, because you will be all over it yet again creating the very next time you speak of. It's everyone else's fault though, right?

Can you let it go right now?

Smart money says hell no!

As far as letting it go goes.
For myself, I'm not letting it go not because the call went against the Cowboys but rather the complete mockery of common sense that existed during that period of football. If this play had never happened, I would still be talking about all the other calls that were botched. It's the injustice created by a complete failure to write & enforce consistently something as fundamental as a catch that everyone needs to remember & keep pressure on the league to avoid in the future.

Agree completely. Some seem to be unwilling or unable to see it from the bigger picture perspective and default to accusations of simply fanboying because it didn't go our way.

Have you ever seen Marcus identify a bad call against the Cowboys, and argue why?

Me neither. He's got an agenda.

January 11, 2015. Dez caught it! Lots of debate about if the Cowboys would have won and we will never know. But one thing we do know. Dez caught it. Hard to believe it's been 11 years already.

C’mon bro, why don’t you just kick me in the groin while you’re at it

I can't recall him ever being anything but pro officiating.

That's not a bad thing to have here, imo. It's good to be challenged. Makes us think.

Someday he may even get one right.

Look at you trying to lie now in a thread where you did the very thing you deny. Lol. No integrity just like the rest. I'm sure @TheMarathonContinues remembers another one of those times. You're a fanboi of his too and had a 2-for-1 going that day so you must have been in heaven. Lol. Then there was the time you tried to claim that because I called someone a virtue-signaler that it meant I too was a virtue-signaler. But yet you weren't a virtue-signaler for calling a person a virtue-signaler who called another a virtue-signaler. You remember that dumb spit? Were you just bored that day?

Don't know what it is that these 10 letters of terror do to you but I do know that you'll be back again. It was years ago that you claimed I thought you were just some dumb bumpkin (your words) when I didn't even know who the heck you were at that point. But that little psychosis outburst told me all I needed to know and probably explains why you're a follower since I must have been right about something you disagreed with. All the fanbois start that way but what can you do. Maybe one day you'll get that equalizer that finally satisfies you, eh?

So if you're keeping count, that's 4 things (that I can recall at least). Anything more than 2 is a pattern, yes?

So that's why again I say, until next time, fanboi?

That’s what he does. People just be too scared to call him out on it. Talking about fanboy he will stalk the hell out of you and claim it’s you. They can’t stand when someone disagree with them.

Right? Talking about "must be I got in your head on the first one" when I'm like, "Wench, no one was talking to you before you butt in; and the 5 separate times afterwards." Lol. Someone's got something going on in their head alright, and it ain't me.

LOL

Now he's bringing in reinforcements! Lol. Even Hiroo fought his imaginary war by himself.

And yea, like I said and you affirmed, this is the second time I had a back and forth with you. Second time in 13 years of opportunity. The rest of your episodes I just observed. You're right, though. My initial comment to you in this thread was directed at you. A good natured jab about fighting a long over war. (Ironic that you come back later and tell me to let it go. lol). I guess I could have restated the same arguments that have been stated and restated countless times. But why? Am I changing your mind? You mine?

FWIW. I'd take that same jab at any of my buddies. As they would me. No panties bunched.

Less projection, more reflection.

Dez caught it.

Lies, bro. There's no mop big enough to clean up that spill in your aisle. Ain't no saving face here. Until next time ....

That’s his tactic it seems I thought he just did it with me but he will butt in and reply to you and claim you’re the fan and stalking him. SMH.

I found this old article. This justification for the call at the time is funny to me. According to Dean Blandino, Dez did not lunge for the goal line .

https://www.nbcdfw.com/news/sports/blandino-dez-no-catch-still-not-a-catch/119590/

“The football move aspect of it, when you talk about the process of the catch and the receiver is going to the ground, it doesn’t matter how many steps he takes,’’ Blandino told the Dallas Morning News. “He has to maintain control of the football throughout the action and contact with the ground. If he goes to the ground and the ball comes loose, it’s an incomplete pass.

“In order for it to be a football move, OK, he has to gather himself and lunge and dive for the goal line. It has to be overt, it has to be obvious. When you watch that play at full speed, he [Bryant] is going to the ground, he’s trying to maintain possession of it, he doesn’t maintain possession as he hits the ground."

That's always been my issue with overturning the call. I see Bryant moving the ball to his outside hand so he can brace himself with the other hand and reach for the goal line. That is open to interpretation to some extent, but if he was only trying to maintain possession of the ball, he would have pulled it into his body and protected it. He was trying to score by reaching the ball out, which is what caused it to dislodge when he hit the ground.

Whether the officials reviewing the play believed that or not (they obviously did not), the burden of irrefutable evidence should have caused them not to change the on-field call.

The moment this whole 'football move' garbage was invented, nothing good was ever going to come from it
