Steve McNair comparisons are lazy. As are the McNabb comparisons. McNair was much more of a run and gun QB, especially early in his career, whereas Dak runs to confuse D's but seems to mostly look for the pass-first option. Dak is deadly on his feet in the red zone, McNair, early on, ran all over the field. They are different QBs. Here's a link to McNairs stat line. His career is posted in ascending order.

He's probably going to get a lot of lazy comparisons to other black QB's. Just like Beasley always gets compared to white WR's.

I don't doubt that the sky is the limit when it comes to Dak's potential. His work ethic has been comparable to that of Tom Brady or anyone else from the get-go. Inasmuch as his intelligence is concerned, it certainly appears to be up to that high standard as well. To top it off, the team loves him.

Of course, his future development remains to be seen as far as his overall effectiveness when the necessary time permits. Whether or not his deep ball develops and improves to a point comparable to Brady's is surely something to be determined with the passage of time.

I'll say this -- If I were any happier with Dak's performance, I couldn't stop laughing. Things are definitely looking up for the Cowboys as long as Dak remains on course. Now, I ask you, what could be sweeter than that?

He's amazing, Haley. I am so excited to see how he handles this game today... excited, not scared. He went into Lambeau and lambasted those Cheeseheads. Came back on the Eagles. I have faith brother, a lot of people picking us to lose.
Honestly Trouty I don¨t think the Steelers defense will be that tough...they are not great passrushers. I like the Cowboys in this one.

lol. People pick the Cowboys to loose every game. No worries. The Steelers better be ready to play.

vs. Top 10 pass defenses
2016 Prescott
W 1 L 1
44 of 84 52.4% 514 yd 6.1 ypa 2 td 1 int 74.2

2001 Brady
W 4 L 1 (W 2 L 0 in postseason)
111 of 172 64.5% 1119 yd 6.5 ypa 2 td 5 int 74.7

I realize it wasn't the intention of the OP to compare the teams, but I think this is useful information as we get closer to the playoffs. The 2016 Cowboys rank 22nd in defensive passer rating, and 13th in points allowed per drive. The 2001 Patriots were 3rd and 6th in those categories, which is why Brady was able to get a ring despite that 74.7 rating against top 10 defenses.

In Brady's five starts against top 10 defenses, the 2001 Patriots' offense averaged 15.2 points per game and never scored more than 20 points. New England still won 4 out of the 5 games.

Percy, as always, thank you for your incredible input. Looks like Dak is doing more with less (thus far in their respective young careers), given Brady's elite D, if I'm reading your stats right?

I agree my dude, this is gonna be an awesome game, and I think we pull it out. Zeke the freak will have his first 100 yd game in two weeks, and Dak will hit Dez, Witt, and Cole with his usual precision :)

If Brady is the 2nd best ever who is number one? I'm guessing you'll go w Montana??

Tom Brady vs. Dak Prescott

Tom:

5-3 W-L
64.7 Comp Pct.
195.6 Pass YPG
12-7 TD-INT
88.0 Passer Rating
22 Sacked

Dak:

7-1 W-L
66.5 Comp Pct.
252.5 Pass YPG
12-2 TD-INT
4 Rushing TD
104.2 Passer Rating
11 Sacked

To me Dak is a young, mobile Tom Brady in the making. They both throw compact darts and live off the intermediate pass, but can let loose and connect in stride on the deep pass when need be (Dak is getting there, but there have been multiple examples this season). Both are natural, vocal leaders in the pocket, with a ferocious desire to win. They both make the safe throw most of the time (not checkdown/flats -- but intermediate posts, seams, slants, fades -- which sets these two apart from most), but both have the ability to throw with finesse into coverage. Dak has had a lot of nicely thrown balls dropped as well; not to say Tom didn't in his first 8 as well.

Tom is certainly the better QB now, hell, he's the second best ever. He sees the field with elite vision still, elite pre-snap, etc. and Dak is still learning to read the field. But I believe Dak's ceiling is somewhere in the Tom Brady-spectrum, with mobility. This is a comparison of their first few games in the NFL and, yeah, it's probably too early in Dak's career to do this, given the guy I'm comparing Dak to. But humor me :)

Just wanted to post an interesting stat comparison of the two since I really think they comp nicely to each other. I've had many posts on these two in the past. Feel free to disagree and counter with your thoughts :) And good morning to you all on this fine day, Go Cowboys.

Lets hope Prescott is as durable as Brady. He is one tough boy. Played almost every game his entire career. Thats saying something in the NFL.

I would call Brady and Montana even. I like Brady a heck of a lot more.....those 49ers...The stinking Catch. No I changed my mind...Brady is number 1 and Roger is number 2.
The voices took over in this post huh?!!! Never was I more heart broken about anything than that game. How we lost with six turnovers is still beyond my comprehension. But I think Brady is #1 due to slightly lesser supporting cast, especially at WR and RB.

Yes! At this point at least. This could change if Brady keeps going. Montana a perfect 4-4 in SB's and three MVPs (tho, Rice could have easily had a couple of those :))
So you don't think Tommy Terrific gets the nod when considering supporting casts? I mean Joe had some HOFers on that offensive squad pretty much as a constant. Can't say the same thing for Tom except for Moss and Gronk assuming he makes it.
