well probably way more than that, more like 40,000 gas was 15 cents a gallon back then cigs were 25 cents a pack , you could buy a used car that was
drive-able for $150, a good one for 6-700

I worked for UPS back in 1985. Their brown truck drivers made 14 an hour. Their semi truck drivers made 16 an hour. That was ridiculous good money back then. They now make more than double that.

Not bad at all. Landry's check was over twice what I made in a month back then, as a printer for the San Antonio Light newspaper.

I worked for UPS around that time too. We made around 12 an hour on the preload. That was big money back then. You had to work for it though. Brutal learning curve. Lot of guys never came back for day 2.
