I hear ya. I plowed for a long time before I got to be a supervisor. That's insane for 1966. It looks like one of my checks before taxes and after a ton of snow plow overtime. In 2015!!

This is really cool.
I am guessing it is a bi-weekly check which would amount to a little more than $60k after taxes assuming he was paid for the full year. It is impossible to figure out his salary from this check though because it depends on tax deductions and exemptions he filed. But the tax rates in 1966 topped of at 70% for any income over $100,000. The tax rate for $60,000 was 64%! Of course they had more deductions back then so most people's AGI was much lower than their gross income.
Seems like Landry was underpaid. But a new car in 1966, say a Ford Galaxie convertible cost under $2500. A new house cost under $25,000 on Average. If Landry was pulling down $50k in 1966 he was doing okay because the median household income in 1966 was about $7400.
Very cool
It’s in may so maybe then they paid year round? If that's a weekly game check its not bad for back then.
I was 7June 1, 1966.....12 days later I was born and made this world a better place! Lol!
Where did that pop up from???
We need more information!

Stevie will even throw in a $10 voucher and a 35 cent koozie from Mike Fisher's Maverick Bar 2 sweeten the deal.Stephen may use this in future negotiations.
If it was good enough for Tom Landry.....
(With the recent massacre in mind and heart)....June 1, 1966 was two months before the UT Clock Tower Tragedy.June 1, 1966.....12 days later I was born and made this world a better place! Lol!
Curious as to the team's DBA title on the check - what is the official title of the franchise now?
I know business is business-- but for 29 years of the utmost dedication to his position as head coach -His first contract in 1960 was $34,500.00 a year
This would have been his second contract
His last was a million a year
Wow -- that's quite a drastic difference from what it'd be today -- of course, the buck went farther back then than it does now!![]()
I would think that should have came from the owners he worked for but he certainly deserved itI know business is business-- but for 29 years of the utmost dedication to his position as head coach -
and to ease the sting of the firing - perhaps Jones could have gifted Landry 2 or 3% ownership for building that expansion team into an iconic sports franchise known around the world?
that's alot more then most of the players made for half a season back then.
