I know I posted this in the past but now that there is more traffic as the season approaches, I was hoping to get some new folks who haven't had the chance to sign the petition.

If you don't like the idea that's fine. but this is just a reminder that it's out there for those who are interested.

I plan to print off the petition and send it to Jerry Jones after the Thanksgiving day game.

Thanks to the over 700 who have signed it and to those who do so in the future.

let's see......$1 billion divided by 700.......carry the 1.....I think if each signature donates $1.5 million, you should have the neccesary $1 billion in naming rights. :D

Just asking folks to sign the petition. I don't know how many time people will post that same story link.

They'll post it until someone photoshops a nice pic of Jerry with dollar signs for pupils. ;)

The best bet is Landry Field at _________ Stadium. If you think for one second JJ is going to forego the $800 million - $1 billion naming rights deal that he will get, you are crazy. Even getting Landry Field is going to be a chore because this stadium is a monument to JJ and noone else. If its going to get anyones name, I'm sure its going to be his. Jerry Jones Field at ________ Stadium is more likely I think!

After seeing the 49ers go with Walsh field, I think Jerry may be a little more inclined to go with Landry field...I hope...Landry stadium obviously would be best and I signed the petition, but don't see it happening.

I'm kinda thinking Gene Field at Jerry Stadium. VIP Parking in the Stephen lot, Blue parking in the Jerry Jr lot, and Red Parking in the Charlotte lot. ;) We'll see Jerry walking on the field looking like a Nascar driver with all the sponsor patches on his jacket.

I'm all for Landry Field. I also believe that Southwest Airlines or Dr. Pepper will be attached somewhere, since JJ alluded to a "local flavor" when questioned about the name a few days ago

None of that is going to happen. Jerry was on the news last week and confirmed the stadium is going to have a corporate name. I am hoping they atleast name the street Tom Landry Way

Like I said in the original post which some people failed to read was that if you don't want to sign it, fine. The fact that we get the same posts from the negative nancys are indications that some people just can't let people do their own thing without them getting in the way.

This is a show of support for a great coach and an even greater man.

The whole idea is to at least get Coach Landry's name somehow connected to the stadium.

If you don't want to sign it don't.

Who cares about all this other stuff.

Geez.

How does a high school stadium preclude it from happening somewhere else.

$1 billion in corporate sponsorship revenue is a lot of signing bonus/guaranteed salary money. Coach Landry's name on anything connected to the stadium doesnt help the Cowboys sign players in any way, shape, or form. It has nothing to do with "Negative Nancies." I'm the "Realistic Roger." All the "Pollyanna Pauls" need to ante-up if they want to get it named.

As long as it doesn't become the "iStadium" I don't really care what it's called.

Again, I say...

Who cares?

And quite honestly, I would think that most corporate sponsors would want their name associated with Landry. I would also think he would get more money if it was XYZ stadium at Tom Landry Field or something like that.

So stop being a wet blanket.

Jerry would get more money if it was ABC field at XYZ Stadium. Both companies paying hundreds of millions of dollars. Again, While naming the field or stadium Tom Landry is a well intentioned exercise, the organization gains nothing to keep it at a competitive advantage over the other teams in the NFL. I think the best chance you have is to specify a nearby street be named for Tom Landry and not a general association with the stadium. This can be done through the mayor's office in Arlington, and not neccesarily through the Cowboys. Just my 2 cents.......oh, and wet blankets are great in 110 degree weather in the Texas Stadium parking lot. ;)
