Well you should know this already since you live up there, but i-30 is already named Tom Landry Highway. If Arlington does it right, they could really promote that stretch of highway by the new stadium.CowboyJeff;1586122 said:Jerry would get more money if it was ABC field at XYZ Stadium. Both companies paying hundreds of millions of dollars. Again, While naming the field or stadium Tom Landry is a well intentioned exercise, the organization gains nothing to keep it at a competitive advantage over the other teams in the NFL. I think the best chance you have is to specify a nearby street be named for Tom Landry and not a general association with the stadium. This can be done through the mayor's office in Arlington, and not neccesarily through the Cowboys. Just my 2 cents.......oh, and wet blankets are great in 110 degree weather in the Texas Stadium parking lot.

let's see......$1 billion divided by 700.......carry the 1.....I think if each signature donates $1.5 million, you should have the neccesary $1 billion in naming rights.

The petition is pointless. Sorry, but it is. There is no way JJ is going to pass up millions of dollars to name it Landry Field or anything of that like. Frankly, its not worth it.
And it doesn't matter how many sign the aforementioned petition. Its not going to change anything. But if it makes you feel better about it, then do it. Just realize it is a futile endeavor and don't get your hopes up.
I have no issue with your effort. Wish you all the best in it.Cajuncowboy;1586493 said:Do you even read all the posts?
It's not totally about the name but about letting Jerry know how important it is to Cowboy fans that Landry's name be associated with the new stadium. Jerry has long said hhis greatest regret since buying the Cowboys was the way he fired Landry. Why would one think that it is out of the question that he would have his name associated with the new stadium?
As I said, if you don't want to sign it then don't. Don't be part of the "pointless" effort. This thread was not meant for people who want to be know it alls who think they have Jerry's mind in their own head.
maxsports;1586062 said:None of that is going to happen. Jerry was on the news last week and confirmed the stadium is going to have a corporate name. I am hoping they atleast name the street Tom Landry Way

Vintage;1586567 said:Yeah, I read all of the posts in this thread.
Its still pointless. Jerry's already said he plans on honoring Cowboy greats. So why are you so worried about Landry not being honored?
Jerry's already addressed this even if he didn't mention Landry specifically. And I don't recall him choosing to single out anyone either. You made a thread, people are going to reply how they want to.
You wanted to say something and have the rest of us "baaaah" in unison?
Sorry. Jerry will honor Landry just like every other Cowboy great; I trust him.
And if you don't want it to be about naming the field after him, why is your petition about it and asking people to sign it?
Perhaps title your petition correctly. Or perhaps make your petition about what you are, you know, actually trying to "accomplish."

Maybe it's me, but I have no doubt that Landry will be properly honored within the 'boys stadium, so naming the field after him doesn't seem as necessary. If he does, great. If he doesn't, I'd be ok with it either way.
I guess my question is if Jerry plans to give him massive space within the confines of the 'Boys HOF as a tribute, will that be satisfactory for you?
Cajuncowboy;1587186 said:Because non-specific things usually don't get people behind them. Most people usually understand that.
I think Landry should be honored above most of the players only due to the fact that he was the one who drafted, coached and developed them. There is a difference between what he did for over 3 decades and what, even a great player did for 10 or 12 years.
We are simply trying to bring to Jerry's attention how important it is to many people who (you not being one of them, I understand) that it is to have Coach Landry's name in the forfront of everyones minds on gameday.
Youngsters need to know WHY we are America's team, not just the fact we are.
