Tonight is the defining moment in this season

Honestly I don’t necessarily think this game defines our whole season with 12 games left after tonight. Think about it. We could win convincingly tonight and then lose next week to the chargers. Or vice-versa.

Yes this is a really big game. But we could win tonight or lose tonight and it doesn’t mean we have accomplished more than any other game other than getting the mental relief of knowing we “can” beat the niners. Because winning or losing tonight won’t necessarily mean we win or lose against the niners or anyone else in the playoffs.

This is a really big game tonight. I like our chances. But IMO the season does not ride on the outcome of the game tonight - either way.

We can try and rationalize and say it's only one game but it is the game we all know that if we want to ever get any further we are going to have to go through this 49er team

A win tonight and confidence will abound everybody will be playing above their heads from here on out in my opinion and have the faith that we can go further then last year.

That said a loss will be devastating there will be no confidence in the locker room no hope that we can ever reach an NFC championship and get to a super bowl if we get punched in the mouth again because no one steps up I think we are destined to just spiral down to the end of the season.

My question now is who wants it bad enough to put on the cape step up be equal to the task and make it happen.

Someone needs to distinguish themselves as the leader of this team in situations like this by playing real big in a big game to give everyone else confidence just not sure who it will be.

If disaster strikes and we get blown out I could see guys packing it in I don't believe all the rhetoric of we're sticking together and it's just one game their agents will all tell them you're going nowhere this year protect yourself and business decisions will be made.

I'm hoping for a change for someone to step up and play above their head tired of this team getting kicked around
The Cowboys, unlike many CZ posters, aren’t going to give up like you say if the lose. Only CZ haters will be giving up.

Don’t know about disaster setting in. Nobody predicts us to win anyways.

The bottom line is this quarterback needs to play well in this game.

My concern :
If they win, can they stay level headed
And stay motivated the rest of the season?
This team struggles with success.
See Cardinals game for example.

I disagree. We lose-it proves nothing this early in the season. Except we're not as great as we thought. We'll see them again in the playoffs. That will be more important than this game. But I can understand your point...

Geez, this is only the 5th of 17 games. The only thing it will define is where we are after 5 games. Teams are almost never the same in January as they are in Oct.

Well as much as I absolutely hate to say it those rotten lousy eagles sure did give the blueprint of how I would like to see us handle the 49ers.
Need a touchdown line it up and push it in need a first down line it up and push it in.

Then kill the clock and finish the game might makes right.
Have to appreciate power football

It’s important but not necessarily defining as in season over if they lose

I think it’s more important for the fans. This place will be in disaster mode with a loss
right. a win I feel can jumpstart some serious aspirations, but i don’t think a loss will be nearly as devastating to them as us

....it's a mojo game for Dallas, I feel. Even though, the season is still long. Winning tonight, will promote mega positive vibes for the team. Place them in good spot mentally.

And this team has sent us home from the playoffs two years in a row in embarrassing fashion
And the Packers sent us packing in 2014, we beat in the regular season in 2016, just to lose to them in the playoffs.

We will most likely see the 49ers again the playoffs. That's the defining moment and will show if we got over the hump or not. Not week 5 of the regular season.

After reading through the post I fully understand this is very early in the season but I don't believe that the magnitude of taking a beat down from this team again can be measured in the winning loss column alone

It's not just the players what will our coaches think of themselves if they take another beat down will they doubt their ability to prepare the team will the players start to question their ability to be able to ever beat this team.
For those who think this game doesn't really matter and it's all the playoffs not sure how anyone could have any confidence in US beating this team in the playoffs if we get pounded again tonight.

We flat out need our trenches to win the battle we need the intensity that I've seen other teams have this weekend. We need leaders to play big in the big game and lead.
Lastly Dak needs to put the team on his back if necessary and use his legs to make it happen.

The defining moment is the superbowl.
For our franchise, it’s winning a divisional playoff game, something we can’t pull after 28 seasons. I never mention Super Bowl and the Cowboys in the same sentence unless it’s the punchline. We are defined by playoff futility.

At the end of the day the regular season will not define the Cowboys season, but what happens in the playoffs will. However, a blow out loss would impact confidence if facing the 49ers again in the playoffs.

People, Dak is a good QB and that is all. Yes he will win games with talent around him. The difference is great QB’s can make up for deficiencies that happen throughout the season. Dak cannot and does not have the skill set to be a great QB.
