I think Gallup will be better than TWill ever was THIS YEAR.

That would be nice.

Actually I'd be just as happy if there wasn't a "no. 1" receiver, because if he goes down, then the passing game usually falls off quite a bit. If you have 3-4 receivers that the defense has to account for, missing one isn't that bad....

Did Cole Bease have a down year cause of his play or due to his limits and defenses adjusting to the routes he runs?
Double coverage which is rare against slot WRs.

Meanwhile there were some plays where Dez was not covered at all. The CB would abandon coverage on Dez in anticipation of a run but before the RB actually had the ball. Dak tried keeping the ball a couple of times and wanted to throw to Dez; however, Dez was too stupid to look back.

I still remember when he was considered the "heart and soul" of the team because of his "passion".
its a thin line between passion for the game and being a cancer,or poor team mate. Dez never could strike the right balance.

It begins and ends at yourself.

Bryant could never stop at himself. He honestly thought he was a big part of the team.

He is not the smartest fellow in the world, so on a personal level, I forgive him.

It is not everyone's privilege to have the owner following behind you with a pooper scooper your entire career.

That 1979 Dallas Commander game is my favorite game of all time. Wow, what a game. I would like to rewatch it in its entirety. Lots of lead changes. Riggins was bent on winning that game for the Commanders. But Roger the Dodger, was given the ball last. That was the Commanders mistake. Never give Roger the ball last with a lead less than 7.

I also remember Verne Lundquist (who called that game) scolding the fans for leaving early thinking the game was over. Dallas had pretty crappy fans who went to the games back then.

Tom Landry was about as conservative as a HC can get when it came to switching starters. One example was that you could not lose your starting job due to injury. Another example, It took a half season to decide to replace Craig Morton with Roger Staubach despite the obvious difference in success. When he did, the Cowboys went undefeated the rest of the year.

So you can imagine my surprise when he announced he was going to replace starter Golden Richards with second year player Tony Hill. The former third round pick had two total receptions in his rookie year.

The "other" WR was Drew Pearson, 1st Team All Pro for the past two consecutive seasons and leading Cowboy receiver for the past four consecutive seasons.

Tony Hill made the Pro Bowl his first year as a starter and would be the Cowboys leading receiver for the next eight consecutive seasons.

We never hear about him.We know about Drew's historic catches, we know Butch Johnson's amazing catches but Tony Hill moved the chains and was part of the Cowboys most prolific offenses in the early 80's, just as essential to Danny White as he was to Roger.

I love how this thread sparked discussion regarding our great yesteryear Cowboys I grew up watching as a kid. Not the intended goal of the tread but definitely an added bonus. Thanks.

In that Commanders game, I recall how clutch Ron Springs was. Robert Newhouse was good, as per usual. What many forget is, how we got the ball back late in that game. I think if memory serves, Riggins fumbled on a dive play. It gave us the life we needed.
