Hey!

You lay off Tony Mandarich!!!

This is the guy I would have taken over Troy Aikman back in the 1989 draft!

Aren't you glad I am not the GM?

Sometimes it is just best to man up and admit mistakes. For me, this is one of those times.

He was probably mesmerized by Tony's "headlights" on the cover of SI. :laugh2:

I still have that SI. The groceries that dude went through, wow! Alas, he had Danny Noonan syndrome.

I remember that guy. But, I'll say this, at least after he failed in Greenbay and then was out of the league for a few years he did, to a small degree, redeem himself when he played for the Colts (I want to say in the first 2-3 of Peytons career) and did an adequate job for the Colts. Nothing special but at least he was able to walk away with his head held a little higher.

I agree. He could've just quit after cashing in his signing bonus, but decided to stick it out. I do have to respect him for that.

Since people seem so keen on NFL has beens this evening, how long before someone starts a thread on Tony's teammate Don "Majik" Majkowski?

That poor guy. He had to have had the worst lucky in the history of the QB position. He was VERY popular in Greenbay, from what I remember and what I remember reading, but just never got a chance to get his job back after that injury cause 'The Ironman' took over.

Steve was producing on the field and looked to be living up to his billing until the knees went in back to back year. The dude flash talent those injuries destroyed him though.

That was not a bust due to talent or work ethic that was just bad luck

I was going to say "Hell yeah! He was a total beast". But then I realized I had confused him w/ Keith Millard who had also played college ball in the sate of Washington.

LMAO! Not a prayer. LaFleur was terrible even when he was healthy.

BS. He was very effective when he was on the field. Unfortunately, injuries kept him off it more times than not.

Well I was just in high school when he was playing, so maybe I'm not remembering, but refresh my memory on when he was effective? I honestly don't remember seeing him catch more than a handful of passes in each of his first couple of years.

Yep, he was gonna be a good one, but the back got him. Troy worked him out personally, and Troy said he had big time talent and i'll take Troy's word.

He was never going to record huge offensive numbers b/c he was such an effective blocker, but he was starting to show his effectiveness as a threat in the redzone before his back injury prematurely ended his career. I think he had something like 7 or 8 TDs in a season before he called it quits.
