Tony Pollard is a free agent after this season

You want him to walk? He's looking like one of the best weapons in the entire NFL.

I'd cut Zeke and pay him if that's possible, but I'm no cap expert.

I'm curious...how do our players respond to big contracts?

Tony could be an exception. He's handled moving up to 1.5 RB extremely well, despite former #2's flaming out.

The Cowboys offense without Pollard is impotent. You keep him. He's the best player on your offense by far other than Zack Martin.

Pollard is an excellent player but if he is looking for big retirement money he needs to walk. Anyone who thinks Pollard is in a class with 2016 Zeke is dreaming. 2016 Zeke was one of the most dynamic and explosive players I have ever seen. He got paid, got fat, and that was the end of it. We should treat Pollard like we did Demarco Murray. Run him into the ground this year then let him walk. Draft someone new in round 3 or 4. Pick up a low cost free agent.

Wrong. Pollard is the Darren Sproles of the offense. He's a hybrid player that can do more things than any offensive player you have.

This offense would suck without him.

2 - Re-sign him to agreeable long term deal
3 - allow him to walk as UFA and draft his replacement

I’m torn, bc I think paying RBs money is an awful use of the cap bc the position is replaceable.

But Pollard is a playmaker…arguably the best one on the roster. If we can use him the right way he could have a Kamara type impact.

If we do sign him - has to be a shorter deal.

Yes he will cost 11 million. I would try to trade him. Even for a 7th rounder. If no takers, I'd still cut him. But that is just me. We need to do what the Rams did with Gurley. We need to keep Pollard at all cost.

I’d afford it by moving on from Zeke
I’m a Zeke fan and think he’s still important but I can find a guy to replace Zeke, there aren’t many guys who can replace pollard contribution wise

Zeke and Dak everyone earned the salary they make, that’s why you get raises.
So if your employer comes to you and says we’re going to cut your pay or restructure your salary or just let you go because you’re not producing like you did the year or years before you received the raise? I bet if you had people, fans or what if the players could monitor your pay and they say things like that about you, how would you feel

In the real world you get fired if you’re not producing as good as you did years ago.

For that reason, Zeke will likely get cut next year.

This is his only chance at a big payday in his life. He will sign a 3 or 4 year deal with someone else.

And I'm fine with it, I want Dallas to use him as much as possible the rest of the season. Let another team give him a big contract

I just looked and his contract is basically identical to the cap hit next season. So there's nothing to gain by cutting him until the following season. But hopefully he'll agree to a reworked contract.

I would not rework his contract if it meant more dead money later - just keep him and the 11 mill and let him go after next season.
