Yes, exactly right. How any UDFA's wind up eventually being the starting QB? Cant think of too many. I think Jeff Garcia with the Niners, and of course Kurt Warner with the Rams.
Romo not only winds up being the starter but actually goes on to statistically be the best QB in Cowboys history. Great story, and he seems like a good guy too.
Not sure why people are so miserable or self-absorbed that can't appreciate what he accomplished.

Fine....we didnt; win one. Fine he screwed up a few. As dak fans say..."who doesn't"?

He played FAR beyond any hope or expectations. When he was on, he was one of funnest QB's to ever play.

An amazing overachieving success story, I think. Everyday average joe does good among elites. Why can't we just celebrate that?

For some reason on this forum, so many here think you are a bum if you never won a Super Bowl. Its hard to win one, many greats don't ever get to play in one. The Super Bowl is one game, a season is many games- and Romo was fun to watch in those 16 games every season.

In Romo's early years the defense was stacked. This is bad information. Coming from a mod is a little alarming
With the sole exception of 2009, the defense with Romo never finished in the top 10 in either points per game or points per drive, let alone top 5 in points per drive and top 7 in points per game like both of the previous years.

It's weird how people like to hate on Romo by acting like the team around him was much better than it actually was.

I dont know how its wierd, this forum QB analysis spectrum is pretty laid out. Those who attack Dak (general defend Romo) Those who attack Romo (Usually in some defence of Dak) and the rest of us who stand back and wonder how someone could think one is great but the other was bad...lol

The decision making has been a million times better from the front office for Dak Prescott than it was for Tony Romo. Dak has consistency where Romo did not. Dak hasn't dealt with the 6 year stretch where Jerry was a complete joke while his QB was at the height of his career. Jerry obviously learned since then, but you certainly can't pretend the team building and player development has been anything close for both QBs.

So Romo didnt have weapons? So Bill P/ Sean P was a bad coaching combo? JG was horrible with Romo but he was being held down by Dak? Again we can go over all of this that has been said millions of times, if you dont want to see the facts then really there is no argument to be had... they are both good QB's who way outplayed their potential comming into the NFL, Neither did/has been able to get this circus Ownership over the hump. Its fine to like one over the other but when looked at objectivly they went through the same things anything else is just playing in grey areas trying to make a point that really isnt there.

Romo was so much fun to watch. Even when we lost he would always have a bunch of highlight splash plays. It's too bad that for the most part we weren't a very good team while he was playing.

Maybe if he hadn't waited so long to quit being a gunslinger things would have been better. His last few years he had a better overall team & was a much better QB.

Jerry was garbage from 2007 on. Not sure how else to explain it, but his decision making once Parcells left was a joke. Such a joke that the team was in shambles just a few years later. Drafts, free agency, player development, none of that really existed after BP left. The receiving weapons weren't the problem, but the rest of the 53 and the team Jerry built was terrible by 2010. A handful of quality players doesn't make a good team.

you think the team building got better with JG at any point? they built an O-line for Romo who he took to the playoffs kinda the same as Dak in 2016 to be frank EXACTLY the same.. all offense no defense. MM/DQ have made some changes... but Romo stepped into a Bill P defensive team and he wasnt a rookie when he did. It's funny the team fails in the playoffs the same ways for both yet one "It was the others not him" depending on how they want to see it. Again this has been gone over at nauseam, either you can see it for what it is or its one or the other in which case I'm back to there is no arguing with anyone who doesnt want to see the facts.I like Romo and Dak neither has done something the other couldnt do.....

They're talked about as one of the best drafting teams in football today. That was not the case back then. The roster sucked for the most part and Jerry was clueless on how to fix it. What could've been a great team in 07 was already a mess in 2010. That situation did not exist for Dak Prescott no matter how many try to put these QBs in the same boat, it's not even close.

Dak had 3 all pros on the line in 2016 all in their prime plus the leagues leading rusher for the next 3 years, nothing EXACT about it. Romo's line was all 29 years old except for Flozell who was 32 back in 07 and Jerry's job from that point on was laughable.

Then came Garrett...clapping them hands.
