I’m just pointing out that he didn’t have a terrible head coach his entire career as you claimed. Even though the coaching wasn’t good after Parcells left Romo still produced. He won a couple of playoff games and received an MVP vote in 2014. It’s not like he went down the drain under the other coaches. He put up a ton of yards and won a lot of games, but untimely turnovers were always a problem for him under every head coach he had. He was a gunslinger who liked taking a lot of chances.
Well let me tell you a story about another gunslinger named Rayne Dakota Prescott. He was born in a small town called Sulphur, Louisiana. He came from humble beginnings, as his mother worked as a manager at a truck stop—

Dak isn’t a gunslinger.

I loved Romo and I love Dak. They are having similar careers but rabid Romo lovers will tear down Dak to build up Romo. To be fair, it happens the other way around too. They will never forgive Dak for taking Romo's job. They root against Dak so Dak can be seen as a failure like Romo is. That's why you see the Romo hate.

BTW, I loved Romo's episode. He's a good dude. He's not a leader though, and you have to be at the QB position. I think that was the only thing he was lacking. I wished they would've included his last TD he threw. I don't know why they didn't. He came in on that drive and marched them right down the field for an easy TD.
I remember him in an interview on TV saying something to the effect that he didn't understand why the QB had to be the leader. It always stuck with me. He eventually figured it out.

There are different types of leaders. Some lead by example and some are your rah-rah type, and some are both. Romo lead by example, not a lot of co-mingling or interacting with teammates other than a selective few. But give him credit, on the field, his leadership was everything needed. He single handily made Dez career by hiding or covering some of his deficiencies.

He actually make several WR's careers. Miles Austin, Terrance Williams, Patrick Crayton, Sam Hurd and even Jesse Holly just to name a few of top of my head.

Watching a football life... Romo sat for 3 years?!?
Really enjoyed that show. Wish Romo had a better ending.

He clearly wishes he'd have made a different decision re: Cabo. Not saying that's why the Boys lost, but even he realizes it was a bad look.

Good dude, just didn't get the dream outcome. Still, for a D2 kid from Wisconsin, he's done darn well for himself. Just didn't get the ring.

Give Romo the Dan Quinn defense we had the last two seasons...he never had that.

Romo was better than Dak. Romo went 8-8 with the worst Dallas defense in team history, and fans still complained about him.

Prime Romo the last two seasons wouldn't have squandered this defense. Dak, on the other hand...oh, well.

I don't know about this.....blaming the defense for him not getting to the big dance....
Just like Dak, he had some good defenses ( Terrance Newman, Sean Lee, DeMarcus Ware ).

Two problems.......he simply couldn't stay healthy and had poor ball security in critical games ( especially the so-called win-or-go-home games).

Coach Parcells developed him but having Jason Garrett basically in his head constantly afterwards could not have helped.
Nonsense. Garrett gets a lot of blame for poor decisions, rightly so, but if there is anyone who could help mentor a lesser talented QB into a starter it’s Garrett. Dude made a living as a lesser skilled QB with brains and family coaching experience, who always supported the starter and built them into better performers. (Just see Aikman’s comments hyping the hell out of Garrett before his coaching days here.)

What helped Romo was Parcells was a no BS coach and as soon as ’awww shucks’ Wade took over, Romo lost that forced discipline he needed. This is the QB who was dating a new celebrity every month, loved to gunsling and lose the ball, and didn’t realize how bad it looked going to Cabo. He needed that strong Coach that the Cowboys probably only got from The Tuna after the Jimmy years.

That’s what is sad about that documentary. Unlike other Cowboys profiles which usually close out with Super Bowl and MVP memories, this one closes out with what could have been, because the sad truth is once Romo finally became the disciplined QB we needed, his body could no longer take the pounding.

In Romo's early years the defense was stacked. This is bad information. Coming from a mod is a little alarming

Seems to be a lot of revisionist history for Romo, that’s for sure. Everyone is trying their hardest to justify his long career without Playoff success.

I guess it’s from the position, because I don’t see the same arguments for other guys who were ringless. If only Jason Wittten had a defense, or if only Sean Lee had better linemen in front of him, and so on…

I have made the comparison in the past but was informed on no uncertain terms that Dak was so much better than Romo it wasn't even close. All I could do was shrug my shoulders and move on.
They are scary similar in almost everything.. good QB's but when asked to make up for this GM's short comming they both have failed and somtimes failed in fantastic fashion in the playoffs

dude you know these Romo fans aint never gonna let it go. They have revinist history or at the very least they saw things different;y. They dont use the same standard for our current QB. They are always going to have an excuse as to why we failed under his tenure but it aint nevr going to include Romos failures. The fact of the matter is the same thing that haunts Dak haunted him. and thats Jery jones but I was so happy that tenure ended. I couldnt even get behind Romo as much as could have because of his ridiculous fans. (crayton drop, he lost in the lights, no defense,no line etc)

Anytime i hear someone say he was elite I just lmao. He and dak are quite similar thus far. Im actaully shocked khalidi hasnt shown up

Well he was a UDFA...so you get no slack and no respect, and especially at QB... from Eastern Illinois even... had everything stacked against him. Success story for him.
Yes, exactly right. How any UDFA's wind up eventually being the starting QB? Cant think of too many. I think Jeff Garcia with the Niners, and of course Kurt Warner with the Rams.
Romo not only winds up being the starter but actually goes on to statistically be the best QB in Cowboys history. Great story, and he seems like a good guy too.

I miss the guy so much. He gave me hope when I knew our team was under manned. Now we have the better talent and hope our QB doesn't screw it up... sigh.
I do too, he was so much fun to watch. He did give us hope, he lead many comebacks in the 4th quarter. How many plays did he keep alive by his scrambling around back there- too many to count. Wonderful underdog story going from UDFA to statistically the best QB in Cowboy history.
