I compiled these stats for each quarterback at www.pro-football-reference.com . These stats are each players' stats after 39 starts. Since Romo has 39 career starts, thats my comparison number of games. After looking at these numbers, we know Romo is more then capable of greatness. For the exception of Marino, Romo pretty much has stats that were actually better then the others. His future looks very bright.

Attempts Comp. Yds. Pct. TDs. INTs.

MARINO 1,370 839 11,103 61.2 95 42

ROMO 1,280 815 10,300 63.6 78 43

MONTANA 1,318 841 9,623 63.8 64 36

P. MANNING 1,355 818 10.024 60.0 67 50

FAVRE 1,341 833 8.113 62.1 52 45

S. YOUNG 1,072 672 8,412 62.6 51 35

AIKMAN 1,086 636 7,290 58.5 32 48

STAUBACH 912 528 7,395 57.8 49 42

BRADSHAW 969 469 6.098 48.4 36 63

Just looking at the stats, you see that some players got off to slow starts. Badshaw was a big game player like no other but his regular season numbers weren't great. His numbers picked up when Swann and Stallworth got drafted before the 74 season. Romo is 2nd in completion pct. He had more yards passing then everyone except Marino and is only 2nd to Marino in touchdown passes. Amazingly Romo had only 1 more INT then Marino did. He had 7 less INTs then Manning did. I believe all Jones has to do is put the players around Romo. Hey! look at the numbers guys! Romo will start winning the big games very soon. The future of the Cowboys could be very bright. Gotta love the numbers !!!!

Is there anyway you can supply us with stats on W-L records, prererably broken down by regular season and playoffs for the same players after 39 starts?

Thanks in advance.

Those number will look alot better and become very meaningfull to his place in history once you can add a few playoff victories to his resume. Until then they mean nothing because if you can't win in the playoffs, you will eventually have to go!

I keep telling my kids....watch Romo....you are seeing something special here. The guy is doing things that not many other pro QB's have done. He'll be the leader in virtually all Cowboys records before his career is done.

Sure, he needs some playoff wins, but the guy is just one guy in a team sport. If the other guys don't do their part, he could turn into a guy like Marino who saw only one SB in his illustrious career.

Irrelevant. Most of those guys did that in their early 20s; Romo is 29.

Romo has the potential to be a great QB. To take his place in Cowboy history with Staubach and Aikman. But if he doesn't start winning games in December and January, the stats aren't going to do much for Romo except amplify what a failure he was when the games mattered most.

Like someone already posted, it's not relevant because each QB's situation is different and it's a team sport. Not dissing him, but he fell into a good situation now deliver the goods.

Perfectly stated. If Fasano and Crayton do their jobs or the refs don't make up grounding and personal foul calls (Davis), we beat the Giants and all this Romo can't win crap doesn't exist. Other guys need to do their jobs. Romo is a top QB. The postseason wins will come.

You may look at the stats differently because he's a little older, but these stats are far from irrelevant.

I would like to see how he compares in wins and losses.

I will go ahead and say it for his detractors, until he wins in the post season it means nothing. I don't happen to agree with that, but it has now been said.

Romo doesn't hold a candle to any of those guys. He hasn't even won a playoff game. Minus a top receiver this coming year he will struggle.

My only gripe with Romo is the fumbles. All QB's throw their share of picks. Marino never won a Super Bowl either and I'd take him anytime. I do believe that this you year you will see all Romo is capable of being since he will not feel pressured to force the ball in places it does not belong.

As if the bandwagon isn't full enough.

We are lucky to have Romo. So many NFL teams would love to have Romo, even with the fumbles.

He cannot win a playoff game. You see, the team has to do that as a whole.
