It's funny, NFL Network analysts proclaim Romo in top 5 of QB's in the NFL and perhaps the best in the NFC. Some yahoo proclaims him as overrated.....in short, there's nothin' to see here.

P.Manning has a championship. Romo has not won in a playoff game yet.at some point you just cant talk about how good a guy is. he has to prove it. Romo has proven nothing.

Care to tell us how long it took for Manning (either of them) to win a play-off game? Do a little research, bro. Otherwise your post reeks of complete ignorance. Believe it or not, I'm not trying to slam you personally. Just calling it like I see it.

Tony Romo is Overrated

Cowboy's Still Need a Starting Quarterback

By The Good Run, published Apr 11, 2008

Did the Cowboys do the right thing passing on Brady Quinn? True, Brady Quinn is an untested talent in the NFL and Tony Romo has had success in the NFL. Was if really wise to pass on a number one quarterback when your highly paid guy already has a problem with big games and pressure situations? The Cowboys have struggled not only to find a QB like Troy and Roger but also to find a team to surround a QB. They are still searching for a running game that is consistent and now need to start looking for a younger set of receivers but the Cowboys still need to take a look at their Quarterback.

Tony Romo finished the 06 season and completed the 07 season without the big victory needed to build the confidence of his team, coaches and fan base. If you take a look at the wins and losses for the past two years it is easy to conclude the Cowboys have finished each season right where they should have, watching the playoffs from their home. The Cowboys have to put up a series of victories against good football teams. In 06 just their victory against the Colts stand as the only significant win and their losses at the end of that season paint a better picture of the team. I do believe that Tony Romo is a good NFL quarterback but he will need to show more than he has to move this team to the next level.

In each of the last two seasons the Cowboys have ended their season with the ball in the hands of "their" guy and both times "their" guy did not get the job done. Whether it is a field goal attempt that one could argue he should have never been holding for or trying to force the ball to his favorite target at the end of a game, Tony Romo failed to come through in the clutch. It could be back luck or coincidence but we expect our franchise guys to overcome adversity and bad luck and make the plays that win games in the clutch.

That is half of the problem (in bold). People forget, when comparing Romo to Aikman and Staubach, that both of those quarterbacks had outstanding rushing attacks and dominant defenses to lean on.

So, in order for a quarterback to be good, he has to prove it by winning a championship.

Okay.

Brad Johnson has won a championship. So has Trent Dilfer, Kurt Warner, Mark Rypien and Jim McMahon. So, in your opinion, do you consider these guys as good, while Romo is not?

Let's switch gears for a moment.

Dan Marino never won a championship. Ditto for Fran Tarkenton, Boomer Esiason and Jim Kelly. Three of those guys are enshrined in the Hall of Fame. The fourth one will be someday. Does that throw your criteria for a loop? Just asking
That is not what i said. Dan marino was a great QB and never won a championship. Romo has played 2 terrible playoff games. what he needs to do is stop running around with Jessica simpson, and start living in the film room. my point was we dont know if he's overrated or not. we will see. but to say he's not overrated, would be hard to do based on the facts.

Not worth reading. Anybody who says Peyton Manning wasn't overrated cause he won a championship is too stupid to know the history of how many long years it took for Peyton (the #1 pick in the draft) to FINALLY win playoff games & the SB. And to call Romo overrated cause he hasn't won in either of the 2 playoff games he played & who incidentally has only been our starter for 1 1/2 years. Sounds like the writer is either a Browns' fan trying to justify their trading away #1 pick to us while Brady Quinn still remains a bench warmer or a deranged Commander fan who believes anybody off the street who signs with the Skins is automatically better then any Cowboy player no matter who.

Even though I don't like the media attention he gets because of Simpson, Romo is in no way the main reason forour two playoff losses nor did he play terrible in them. The bobbled snap was a fluke, could have happened to anyone, and whose to say Seattle wouldn't have marched down the field for their own go ahead field goal. Then, if Crayton :bang2: doesn't slow down, he'd have been able to catch Romo's pass. And was it Romo that gave up some 40 second drive before the half. I just can't understand the reasoning behind bashing Romo. He saved this franchise because now with the QB position set, we can go after the pieces to build a SB team.

So, basically, you're saying that good quarterbacks win playoff games, but not necessarily Super Bowls. Well, I should do some research to find out how many quarterbacks have actually won at least one playoff game during their careers. That will be quite an impressive list of 'good' quarterbacks, I'm sure.

not.

In two playoff games Romo is 35 out of 65 for 390 yards, 2 TD's, 1 pick and an overall passer rating of 75.8

Not great, but not horrible either.

Yeah, he needs to do a better job in the playoffs but quite frankly I've questioned the offensive game-plan after each game more so than Romo's performance.

The great Super Bowl winning QB named Eli Manning ended that game with a rating of 82.? which is only slightly better then Romo's play in his 2 games. Of course, we all know Eli won because his defense beat the Cowboys, the Packers & the Pats.

Adam Shefter must feel like an idiot now, after proclaiming Romo to be in the top 5 qb's in the NFL and perhaps the best in the NFC.

He should have read this article before making that proclimation.

Did you click on the article's link? It's posted on a website called Associated Content | The People's Media Company. In other words, they basically post anything provided by anyone. There may be some editing involved, but I doubt that it goes very far past making certain that objectionable or questionable material is published. Of course, one could easily categorize this article as 'objectionable or questionable'...
