Tony Romo is the most underrated Cowboy ever. Dak is making a case for the opposite

My issue with Dak is that we are pointing blame to skill players like Dez (which is fair), but we are giving Dak a pass. He was not bad the last two months of the year; he was abysmal.
He's also in his first full year as a starter in this league.

EDIT: second full year

I see constant praise for Romo on this site. He has an earned massive following. If anything, Romo is overrated by Cowboys fans and underrated by non Cowboys fans. Seems to me you have more of an issue with Dak.
There were A LOT of Romo critics in this board, including me.

I disagree. I think Romo is vastly underrated. He's viewed around the NFL fan world as a talented choke artist. A stat compiler. When in reality I believe he was a championship caliber QB anchored to the worst owner and GM in all of sports. Get him out of the circus in Dallas and on a team with enough of a supporting cast and you see a different result over his career.

I can't think of many championship caliber QBs that never competed for an actual championship. Even Rivers sniffed a conference title game.

Because for some odd reason, when Dallas lost it was always number 9's fault. For some odd reason, Dak seems to get a pass and we are constantly looking his skill players. Romo took players like Laurant Robins, Miles Austin, Patrick Crayton and made them heroic. Dak can't seem to complete a yard flat to Beasley.
Good post. Personally I feel Prescott has every opportunity of recovering from his sophomore season and regain his freshmen form, hopefully starting as soon as next season. Regardless, the hypocrisy of restrained fan criticism is really telling following many years of past complaints that should seemingly and automatically be applied now but isn’t.

So can you tell us why he seem so accurate last year and so inaccurate and hesitant in the pocket this year?

Oh, and he's in his SECOND full year as a starter. He started all 16 games in his rookie season.

Ok, so let's give up on the guys after 33 games. Demarcus Lawrence says hello.

Where in my posts did I say we should give up on Dak? I just said that what you said is completely false. My point is we should keep him accountable in the same way some "fans" kept Romo accountable. Maybe it's hard upbringing, the loss of his mother, his good heart, etc. I understand all that, but at the end of the day, you have to perform.

I rewatched the last 3 games. Seriously? Wth happened to Prescott. He couldn't even complete passes when he had time.

He's not mentally tough and he's mechanically flawed and he's gotten zero help from the coaches this season

Don't know if he's the starter next season(or nrxt game), but the way Dak was allowed to regress in every way mechanically, is exhibit A of why Jason Garrett should be fired.

The farther Dak's gotten away from Mullen's teaching(not Romo), the worse he's gotten.

Wade Wilson needs to be booted from the organization, immediately. Why did they let this bum back!

How exactly is Tony Romo underrrated?
Exactly, underrated to the rest of the world but not to Cowboys fan. We saw Romo lead us to several 4th Qtr victories, escape the jaws of JJ Watts to throw a TD, etc.

His mechanics are dreadful. Pressure him early and he'll play skittish the entire game. He lacks arm strength, touch, anticipation, pocket presence, field vision. There just isn't much he does do well.

Have you all forgotten the endless Romo debates on this forum or the criticism from television analysts?
