Tony Romo is the most underrated Cowboy ever. Dak is making a case for the opposite

Romo was underrated by everyone not a Cowboys fan. That's why when he retired I was confused why non cowboy fans were praising him for being so great when I clearly remember those same people would call him a bad qb who never won anything.

Somehow becoming an announcer made him a great qb all of the sudden to that group of people.

However he never won anything. Career wise very overrated. Talent wise very underrated.

I appreciate Romo for what he did for this franchise. But, think that some fans frustrations with Dak's play are starting to have some hype up Romo to the point where some of Romo's struggles or the team's struggling seasons with Romo under center have been forgotten about. Romo had a higher skill set than Dak does now, yet still had those games where he made big mistakes or where the offense struggled.

And some are guaranteeing that Romo would have big games stat wise, even in games where Dak has constantly been hit/pressured. And some believe that Romo in his current state could survive those hits and have an productive game.

Romo wasn't doing anything in year two of his career. It took time, something no one seems willing to give Dak.

Dak overachieved in his rookie year, raising expectations to ridiculous levels. Even when he makes a good play it's not good enough.
I think it's easy to say that Romo in year two still would have had the arm and quick release and the balls to always attack a defense, those are not learned traits. Some qb's just never see it and are always afraid to pull the trigger, that was never an issue with Romo.

Ma
I can't think of many championship caliber QBs that never competed for an actual championship. Even Rivers sniffed a conference title game.
Marino did not compete for many with the amt of yrs he had.

I disagree. I think Romo is vastly underrated. He's viewed around the NFL fan world as a talented choke artist. A stat compiler. When in reality I believe he was a championship caliber QB anchored to the worst owner and GM in all of sports. Get him out of the circus in Dallas and on a team with enough of a supporting cast and you see a different result over his career.

Romo was a true franchise QB. The slop we have now will never compare.
We don't know what we have in Rush. I need to look up Dak's and Cooper's wonderlic scores. After listening to Romo commentate I am convinced he was the wind behind Dak's success last year.

If that's true....then we certainly can't name any qb's that weren't championship caliber that won or made it to the Superbowl or a conference championship game...

Oh wait...

It's really interesting how Dak could be all world last year, brought us back in many games and this year he has so many so scared including me. Kind of what we saw from RGIII without the big price tag. If we don't have a QB that can keep defenses honest in 2018 we will be road kill. Zeke needs a QB that won't allow defenses to stack the line, we better hope that Dak is that guy.

The conversation was about championship caliber QBs only, lets stick to the subject.

He never won anything but STILL gave us a chance every year, DESPITE Jerry Jones. That's how good Romo is. Dak is exposing how inept both Jones and Garrett are.

I love Romo, Dak fan as well...but what chance did Romo give us that Dak hasn’t this season?

Early in Romo’s career, it looked promising. He went 13-3 and won a playoff game. After that...we went what..4 seasons without making the playoffs? So out of his 5 final seasons, he had one playoff appearance?

Going 8-8 for 3 straight years is only a chance in Jerry Land. That is pretty much what Dak is going to do this year..he gave us a “chance” by finishing 8-8 it 9-7. Just because you have a chance for the playoffs until the final weeks every season doesn’t mean you have a chance to win a Super Bowl.

You know what QBs give their teams a chance? QBs that will their team to the post season consistently. I know Romo had a lot working against him for the bulk of his career...so has Dak this year but neither QB was/is good enough to carry their team to the playoffs.

When the team around Romo failed him, he went 8-8 and made some costly mistakes trying to carry his team. When the team around Dak failed him, he went 8-8 and made some costly mistakes trying to carry their team. When the team around Aaron Rodgers fails him, he says they will win out and they win out, that is giving your team a chance. Peyton Manning makes a 1-15 team a super bowl contender...that is giving your team a chance. The Bengals have had a chance most years under Andy Dalton...do you put him on Romo’s level?

I will defend them both because it’s a team game but let’s not sit here and act like Romo finishing 8-8 for a chunk of his prime years is any different than Dak finishing 8-8. I hate when I hear Jerry say “Romo always gave us a chance”...it only shows how low the expectations of this team and fan base has become that having a chance to make the playoffs with two games to go is a compliment...we haven’t made a championship game appearance in over two decades.

Romo seems to have gotten a lot better now that he's in the booth.

His mechanics are dreadful. Pressure him early and he'll play skittish the entire game. He lacks arm strength, touch, anticipation, pocket presence, field vision. There just isn't much he does do well.
And it’s startling to me how poised he appeared last year compared to this year.

Night and day difference.

This post and others like it is just embarrassing. Dak is 19th in passer rating, 22nd in yards per attempt, 28th in passes intercepted percentage, 13th in completion percentage, etc. and you are going to sit here and compare it to Romo’s best seasons because both of their TEAMS went 8-8. You’re a weak troll. It’s funny that a bunch of people who worshiped Dak’s individual performance and stats last year are suddenly now going with the “it’s a bottom line business” line now. Fortunately there are at least some people in here who can analyze QB performance outside of the team. For gods sake you certainly aren’t one.
